Hi All,
I am quickly running out of mocks to write and after finishing almost half the Schweser Qbank I have found it to be much, much lower quality than the mocks. Any suggestions where I can get some good vignette questions?
I am now scoring approx 80% on the Schweser mocks but since ill only have one left by the end of the week and I have a week off before the exam I am looking for some additional Qbanks/mocks.
Which provider (besides Schweser) might you suggest?
Thanks in advance!
How did you find the Qbank? I’m still reviewing the materials and struggling whether to buy the qbank or not. Thanks

I don’t find Qbank very useful for Level II. Good to reinforce concepts/LOS, but not indicative of the real exam. I have the six practice schweser exams, and they aren’t bad. Seem like they’re a little easier than the actual exam will be. Still haven’t done CFA Mock. Saving that for last. Also, I just bought the finquiz mocks, but I haven’t attempted any of them yet. It was 100 bucks for 3 full exams which isn’t bad. We’ll see on the quality though. Plan on doing the first CFA sample exam tomorrow morning. We’ll see if that’s worth 40 bucks.
I found that a lot of the wording was poor - there was quite alot of ambiguos questions.
As a study tool I found the mocks to be alot more helpful.
The mocks have the ability to expose which areas you are weak in by drilling into one small area for all of your marks in that category. This kicked my ass into high gear.
With the Qbank, if you are specifically reviewing a concept (I did Intercorporate Investments, Pensions and Financial Statement Translations last night) you can draw up 60 question exams focusing on just those topics. That is their main benefit.
I think if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck (and time) I would go with mocks (as they will kick your ass into gear if you get a poor mark). I hopefully wont be doing any more of the Schweser Qbank for my studies so long as I get a good recommendation here on where to get more mocks/vignette questions.
Just did the 1st sample exam. I got a 78% on it, and that was going 1/6 in the FRA Item set (it was brutal). It’s only 36 questions, so I only missed 3 questions in the other 5 item sets combined, which is comforting.
Difficulty seemed about right. I think the schweser mocks are about on par with this sample exam.
Worth the 40 bucks? Hard to say. 36 questions for 40 bucks seems fair, but the fact that you can’t rework the questions afterwards makes it less appealing. I took as detailed notes as I could in the 2 hours. Also, I don’t like how you can’t skip a question and come back to it. I find that a lot of times skipping a question early in an item set, then working the rest of the questions, and coming back helps. I guess taking your mind off it and developing a more thorough understanding of the vignette is helpful. However, you can’t do this on the sample exam.
I took the John Harris accounting workshop this year (which I would recommend to anybody if they need to retake as it’s worth every god damn penny), and he’s supplied us with several hundred questions for all of FRA. These aren’t Schweser questions, these are both tricky, well-written, and concise - exactly like CFAI questions. I haven’t opened the CFAI book since his workshop (except to gauge my progress by trying out some EOCs and destroying them all) but regularly review FRA. Ya’ll gotta get down with John Harris - makes L2 accounting a breeze.
Of course, for the other topics you’re shit out of luck. But I’ve gone back and tried out item sets from past practice exams I’ve taken to brush up on harder questions than I can find in Schweser. In addition to this, the BBs and EOCs are time-consuming. Haven’t used QBank in weeks.
I think if you can breeze through ALL the EOCs and BBs, you probably don’t need many more practice questions.
I’ve done the EOCs but cant do the BB’s - My texts are in a box on a truck! I’ve been looking at the Finquiz Qbank and Mocks… Any suggetsions?
I think the CFAI’s sample exams (the 120 minute ones for $40 a piece) ARE worth the money - they certainly were for me in level 1. It’s a pretty high pressure experience and the questions were certainly very close to exam level difficulty. I was doing much better on the CFAI EOC questions and then a big reality check occured when I took the samples.
Thanks vicky_cool400! Much appreciated.
