Need some input to my last 6 weeks prep

As of now i have the following topics remaining.

  1. Ethics & GIPS

  2. SS 15 (fwds, options& swaps) I plan to finish these by May 1st.

The rest of the topics completed have been a combination of using the CFA text,Kaplan and Finquiz. I have roughly done about 20 % of CFA EOC.

I want to know in your opinion (especially those who have passed or retakers) what is my best strategy for the remaining weeks.

A) finish all EOC first before taking a mock?

B) Start doing mocks right away to get the feel and if you have time left do EOC?

C) Your opinion to the approach that should be taken given my current scenario.

  • Also would appreciate feedback from folks who have taken the level 3 finquiz AM mocks if you could comment on the quality vs Kaplan.
  • How different is level 3 Ethics from 1 & 2 ? is their a lot of new material?

I really appreciate any feedback, I do not want to fail this exam and wait one more year to rewrite with wife kids and a high pressure job.

Thank you in advance

If you have Ehics and GIPS remaining then you are going fine . Forward , Options and swaps you can cover by May 1st and later on you can go for the mock tests during the last 3 weeks or so . You are practising from lot of stuff like scheweser , Finquiz etc. Hence you should follow the A strategy : A) finish all EOC first before taking a mock? And about your question on Ethics Level 3 ethics is different from Level 1 and 2 in a manner that It comprises of portfolio management techniques and applications etc. which are not there in Level 1.

Thank you for the feedback would appreciate others as well… have a good day guys

how much time do you have to study on weekday’s weekends?

You burning out or fatiguing yet?

here’s what I’d do.

Take one mock (AM/PM) this weekend: an official one if you have an older one to burn.

See where you’re at in terms of knowledge. I call this the acid test. Focus on strenghtening your weak areas, work for the next month to maintain your strengths.

Ethics: if you know them well from L1 L2, you should review the Code and learn applications/resolutions solidly. This is an easy 10% if you review smartly. The format changed last year I believe, they are more difficult now so you need to know it thoroughly. GIPS - this is a crapshoot - use your prep material for this but it’s not make or break. Pick up as many points as you can.

Focus on internalizing the information and find their relations over all the SS. The questions will be more integrated than the sectional format in L1 and L2.

Derivatives: if you are strong here, give it time, otherwise, learn the concepts and try to minimalize your losses. Use prep material to save time if you’re torching this one.

After the acid test, EOCs over and over on the sections you did badly in. when you’ve got those down, EOCs over and over on the sections you did well on. Then do AM mocks, make sure you’re using the right terminology and hitting all the points.

Review notes and concepts in your free time, always try to understand the concepts and application rather than by rote. Good luck!

Do as many practice/mock exams as you can, and grade the essay portions harshly. Spend the week brushing up on the areas where you performed poorly.

Appreciate feedback thank you very much…

I can study as long as required over the weekend last weekend ended up doing 10 hr study session with breaks ofcourse.

Very burnt out during the day after work but still try to squeeze in 2 hours atleast.

I will try starting mocks ASAP but it seems i need a quick review before that maybe …finquiz summaries to refresh topics cant wait for the acid test

Just accept that you won’t be passing on these mocks. It just gives you an idea of where you’re losing marks and where you can pick up easily. To use an anecdote; you build a base when you sharpen a knife, you use a different grit to give them knife an edge.
