New Charterholder Ceremony

My local society (D.C.) plans to hold a charter ceremony for new charterholders. There will be a speaker and then I guess they call each person up on stage to get the charter. Anyone care to share their thoughts on whether it was worth going to or not? Thanks.

If you want to go and have peer recognition, def go.

Not sure what you mean by “worth going to”. You’re not goign to get anything unique or special beyond a memory, and people looking at you and clapping. you know. feminine stuff

^ no handshake where they say, congrats, you BSD. Here are your nude women as your prize?

WTF?

I went to mine in December 2008 when half the people at the ceremony were unemployed.

cause all the gainfully employed ones know that killing it at work is what gets you paid. Not collecting a desk sized certificate.

^There’s truth to that but also (probably more importantly) December 2008 was about as bad it got in terms of employment in the financial services industry. The worldwide financial services industry was literally falling apart in 4Q2008. Tons of jobs were permanently eliminated…once prestiguous firms were eliminated. There probably couldn’t have been a much worse time period to have a CFA Charter award ceremony.

The German society also offers an award dinner which I´m going to attend. I´d seize that opportunity for networking with other new charterholders, the “celebration” is secondary. The award dinner will be combined with a weekend trip.

I went to mine and it was OK. Did some networking. Highlight was the handshake, picture, and smaller version of the charter.

I never thought of making my charter into a desk, brilliant! I think it might finally be time to take it out of the tube.

do any trifling golddigging hoes attend these things?

I am planning to attend the charter ceremony at D.C., and hope see you there.

Just me.
