New Headquarters for AMZN

whats cry wank?

use ur tears as lube… duh

i dont cry

You know, its like how you always cry after having sex. Except you do it while wanking while watching your wife have sex with a guy she picked up. How is this not common knowledge?

Who jerks off to STL? Why are you looking at me? No, I’m not being defensive. Shut up!!

look what AMZN is doing to us!

Sometimes its easier to fantasize of people you don’t know so you can just imagine what they look like. That’s how my granddaughter met her husband :+1:

I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!

crystal city!! right next to washignton dc. that’s where there lobbyist department will be located.

I said DC 3 months ago.

all im saying is there is a 10b govt contract being discussed.

Crystal City is a perfect choice. It is a corporate office park with no culture to destroy.

hard to consider these new locations HQ2 when the government is paying more than AMZN!

so AMZN puts down $5 billion that it gets to amortize over time so call it a $4 billion after tax investment and it gets $2.7 billion in tax incentives so the government’s share of the $5 billion is $3.7 billion while AMZN’s is $1.3 billion? not sure these numbers are perfectly accurate but this level of corporate welfare is disgusting.

There is still a reason why local governments are willing to pay this “welfare”, and that is that they will make much more in tax revenue over time. How much are these cities now going to make on taxing AMZN earnings, and also from all the new jobs they will create? If this is undesirable, then just don’t offer the company anything. It is good that these local governments could look past ideologue limitations and take productive action for their own economies. It’s too bad that backwater Toronto was not willing to strike a deal with this corporate partner. We all know how quality this city is as a global hub of technology talent and trade.

Rough break MLA, wonder what Fact Check will do with all those Tim Horton’s gift cards.

#1 direct investment. about 1.5b net of incentives.

#2 direct tax from employment. 25000 employees at 150k/ a pop. that’s 3.75b at a tax rate of say 25%, thats about 1b in tax rev per year.

#3 multiplier effect. lets assume they consume 80 cents on the dollar, that’s 3.75*5*.2 = 3.75b in additional tax per year.

anyways its a pretty good return!

I don’t know… The research I’ve seen on this type of stuff is that politicians are not doing the analysis to measure the actual return. I think incentives for a politician is to declare how many jobs came in. The cost of that growth is diffuse and measured over longer periods of time. To me it’s like the people who own the sp500 index with an expense ratio of 200bps

I guarantee that the cumulative increase in Long Island City property values alone will be billions of dollars from this news. Amazon will also cause a lot of startups to open and other companies to invest in the city. These effects will compound for decades. This is how cities maintain leadership and relevancy and keep growing.

yep yep yep. also the fact that you have higehr quality people is also a positive thing!

Didn’t know nerd sausage fest is what you consider to be “quality”.
