If you look at the banlist you will see gabelogans name, he got banned for fighting RR and the SRK pollution. He is not also from tunisia but was married to a girl who was a doctor.
I was thinking about that other thread on fast/slow twitch muscles. I think my body is more inclined for endurance than strength. But, I want strength.
Then trained cardio doing Muay Thai to failure. I’m ready to start getting lean for summer but want to hold this strength. I bought about 5lbs of steak, shrimp, and tuna steaks today to keep the weight on. I’m also up to 5 scoops of Vega Essentials Shake per workout (15 servings of veggies, 100g plant protein, 650 cal shake - it’s like eating brownie mix).
Edit: I actually prefer buying the Vega All-in-one shake as it is 6 servings of greens per scoop versus 3 servings per scoop in Vega Essentials, but it’s like 40% more expensive and a 5 scoop essentials shake is already roughly $14/day cost. I primarily might switch as I prefer a massive amount of veggie intake to aid in recovery and prevent injury.
I rarely do squats. I’m mainly interested in high intensity, explosiveness, and endurance in my legs. With that being said, my calfs and quads are fairly large so it doesn’t look like I skip leg days, as I don’t.
I have studied some very talented bodybuilders and the main focus is squat, bench, deadlift. The fact of the matter is, if you work on those three exercises, you’re going to get good at those three excercises in your reps and weight. My fitness goals don’t exactly coincide with a bodybuilder. Also, my back is a bit f’ed up and I’m a bit nervous in doing squats and deadlift. My current regime has been good to me in the way that I feel day to day and with energy levels.
Is this a mistake? My prior MMA trainer did have me doing squats and deadlifts, but I felt much more comfortable under his guidance.
Squats is the most essential exercise. That being said if you feel you will get injured doing them due to bad knees or something else, either lower the weights or ask someone to help you improve your form. If that is not possible, then I guess you have no choice to avoid them altogether.
Ok - sounds like a good idea. My main goals are centered around MMA so max strength isn’t a priority except for bench as I am so vain. I’ll try out squats though as maybe a higher rep exercise. I’m pretty good in form and going ATG.
If injury from squatting is a concern, I recommend weighted single leg split squats since there is basically no stress on the back. These are superior to leg press. I’ll see if I can find a good video, but you can probably find a good demo yourself.
Isaiah - no doubt you are at beast mode status but dont bull us on “i train for mma so i dont train squats”. No offense, but a flat DB press routine is far more tailored for bodybuilding than mma - espcially if you are focusing on striking like MT. No hate brother, just saying.
To all who havent trained MT, its beyond painful checking or having a kick landed to your legs let alone after a leg workout were you are very sore.
The herd mentality of squats/dead lifts has been taken to another level. Im a huge proponent to both but that doest mean its a universal exercise for all sports.
