Hell no. A garage full of free weights and chains and some good bars and shit should be far superior to all the uppity stuff and garbage Smith machines and equipment those posh places add on. I only need a bar and stall bars for my own workouts, but I appreciate this much about weight lifting.
Also I worked on a buyout of a bunch of gyms. Interesting thing to think about is that we’d lose money on the average customer if they all came all the time but the people who sign up in January and dont go subsidize everyone else.
i fucked up my feet yesterday from running about 10 miles at the beach. i have pain at the sole of my feet. so i have to go light for a week or two. word to the wise. dont over do it.
^ Mma, sprints, endurance push-ups and sit-ups and gymnastics style strength training. Cool. My workouts are actually all gymnastics specific without weights so it’s always good to see a real athlete who isn’t hitting the weights. Impressive numbers for a 53 year old.
what about experiences at a club with racquet sports leagues etc. primarily looking at competitive squash/tennis which would be around 75% of the time i spend there. not much of a free weights kinda guy.
You’d probably be better off than the vast majority of people. Finding something you enjoy and being able to stick with it is the most important thing.
I was a member at Equinox in NYC for four years. I really liked it. The funny thing is though is that MMA gyms a lot of times cost more than posh fitness clubs.
Do you mean a racket club or something? Either way, I found they are great for meeting people and networking. It’s mostly guys at a free weights gym / MMA gym.
