When I first started as an analyst my PM was a forty something guy from India. One day he took me to play squash at his club. I was in good shape and pretty decent, so I figured I’d have to let him have a game or two. That PM had me shooting around the court like a pinball and completely wasted after five points. I barely got any points on him unless he let me have it.
Turns out the guy was a college squash star and one of the best guys at the club. These days I guess I could learn that from LinkedIn.
Yeah you can’t judge a squash player by the way he looks. Brilliant sport if any of you guys are looking for high energy and competition in 45mins spurts. I got into squash a year ago and am looking to play more competitively (league etc). It’s a local version of Equinox btw ACE. I wouldn’t mind the networking and meeting people aspect but primarily I’m there to play squash. Just trying to see if I’m crazy for paying those rates. Traditionally I haven’t had to pay too much for things I loved to do (biking, soccer, etc are mostly one time or infrequent fees).
Here’s my workout yesterday w/ a 40 lb bag. Pretty hard ehh?
Warmup jog 1 mile 100 push press with 40-50 lb sand bag - bear crawl 400m 100 lunges / leg with sandbag (chest carry) - fireman carry 400m – Substituted 400m run w bag (switch with partner as needed) - 100 squats with sandbag (shoulder carry) - run 400m with sandbag on head or shoulder carry 100 situps with sandbag (chest carry) Run 1 mile 100 pullups 200 pushups Run 1 mile
Besides causing havoc on the elbows and shoulders of those not trained to be able to handle the extra strain, it is just not a pull-up. It’s not controlled. Gah.
my instructor showed me how to do them the right way. i have no joint issues. i could do maybe 3-4 strict pull ups, but with kipping i can bang out 100 no problem, so I think it works pretty good.
