I recall reading one story where a guys birthday was on the exam day. His birthday, meaning his ID was expired, and he was told he could not test. I think I would have knocked someone out.

swaption, i apologize, i honestly thought the letter when i opened it would give me happiness on US GAAP as well… I opened it like alright they are gonna tell me they made a mistake on the IFRS thing… 2 emails from them back to back is rare…

Yes you can. But not if it is clipped, expired, etc. In my state, when you renew the driver’s license, it gets clipped and you get supporting papers with it. An ID like this is not permitted as stated CFAI rules.
yes you can use it… but if you had yours expire then got some sort of re-issued one with no picture… the combo of the 2 counts as enabling you to operate a car, but not take the cfa… But if you have a picture non-expired one, you’re cool
can someone post the entire new letter on here? I see no such thing on my mail box. People, so close to the exam, stop throwing curveballs, and share information necessary for others to act on, completely, so there is lesser tension going around!!
Wasnt meant to be a curveball… Just found it to be an amusing line, didnt realize not everyone gets it at the same time (you think itd be a mass email)… Here is the email in its entirety: The June 2009 CFA exams are rapidly approaching and CFA Institute requires that your identification (ID) meet all of the criteria listed below. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Your ID must: 1. Be current and valid — it cannot be expired 2. Contain your photo 3. Be issued by a government agency 4. Be a single document (not a combination of two or more pieces of identification) 5. Be an original document. Photocopies of ID documents will not be accepted. Check the expiration date on your ID. If it expires before your exam date, get it renewed now. An expired photo driver’s license along with a separate non-photo renewal of your license is invalid. Such combinations are valid for operating a motor vehicle but are not acceptable identification for the CFA exams. The preferred form of identification is a valid passport. School and university identification will not be accepted for admittance to the CFA exam. Your ID will be inspected before the start of the exam. If your ID is determined to be invalid, you will not be permitted to sit for the exam. Once you are seated, your ID must remain on your desk in full view and proctors will continue to inspect ID throughout the course of the exam. Proctors will submit to CFA Institute photocopies of questionable ID that may be discovered during the administration of the exam and validity determinations will be made by CFA Institute. Failure by the proctors to detect an invalid ID before the start of the exam, admittance into the testing room, or even completion of the exam does not imply that the ID is valid or that your scores will ultimately be reported.
