Thoughts? I don’t know enough about the situations and/or the hires in Cleveland, Miami, and Tampa, but I like Ben McAdoo for the Giants and Kelly for the 'Niners. Not sure Pederson is the right fit for the Eagles, but also not sure who would be. I’ve not heard it rumored, but I think the Eagles will also announce the hiring of Andy Reid as GM and VP of football operations.
I think Kelly will do quite well in SF. Kap has the skill set required to run Kelly’s offense and as ltj pointed out, they are young and can build through the draft. Ironically, in the weeks before Kelly was fired, a lot of folks in Philly were pushing for an offseason trade for Kap.
McAdoo has Eli playing the best football of his career, which is why I like that move. I can’t for the life of me figureout why they’re keeping Spagnolo though. He had one good year in the NFL (2007/2008) and has been a disaster otherwise. I realize the Giants D had very little talent last year, which isn’t his fault, but he did absolutely nothing with what he had.
Coughlin pulled his name as soon as McAdoo and Spagnolo stayed with the Giants, as he wanted to bring both with him. Eagles have not formally announced hiring Pederson, but they’re not allowe to until Chiefs are done. They have indicated that they have concluded their search though and will not be interviewing any additional candidates. So, Pederson is really the only person it can be.
Can someone enlighten me how Marvin Lewis has been able to keep his job for such a long time?
There are many things I don’t understand in football since I only started watching football less than two years ago, but his long tenure with 0 playoffs win really makes me scratch my head - seems like a good guy, but the job security he enjoys is quite surprising to me…
