I am really disappointed…I still can not find any job (in india) even after positive L2 results…I really studied hard for L2 hoping to get an entry level job somewhere…but so far really had a tough time…I am seriously thinking, are all the efforts and pain worth for CFA charter ?? …will not appear for L3 next year if could not find a job in another 1-2 months !!
Grow a wicked mustache. Employers love mustaches.
The biggest misconception is that passing these exams will get you a job. It can only help you, and yes you hear success stories. But if your chances of landing a great job was 10%, passing L2 may bump you to 15%, but at the end of the day, it’s still very low
are you talking about graduate schemes rachit202?
hey rachit, 40s the new 30, 30s the new 20, bet you didnt learn that from the CFA
and tomorrow is just a future yesterday
market is still tough…just keep networking and getting your resume out there. Before I landed my job I applied to 50+ places, heard back from 4 and got 2 offers. Those odds aren’t great but that’s what it takes.

CFA doesn’t get you jobs dummy, experience and connections do
Miss Cleo, One needs a job to get experience!

Look at the jobs banks are cutting. If you thought you would go into finance because it was super friendly then… Myself I didn’t realize how competitive it really was until after I graduated. Keep a positive attitude. Congrats on passing Level 2! Work on getting a job within a financial company, not just a front office position. I applied to 21 jobs today at work (don’t tell them), they were mostly very low level stuff at finance or research firms. Be patient and don’t give up.
Honestly, if you don’t have a job after trying awhile, you should just get stoned and realize you are part of a generation that is slipping through the cracks. Unless you have a stellar CV or good connections you dont have much of a chance in this market. I just hope for your sake you live in one of these nice comfy socialist european places where they pay for everything. Cause if not, your life will probably be pretty miserable. I am actually thinking about starting my own business now. It seems like a great time to start because there are so many people desperate for money. It’s a totally different thing managing my people now vs say 2006 when I had to double peoples salary to keep them around.

If it’s in NY and you need someone … I’ll work for a decent price if it gives the right experiences.
I work in Asia - I won’t be paying decent wages or giving good experiences either. You know that movie that just came out about horrible bosses? Well, over here, those would be good bosses. People are just treated terribly here. If I lived in New York, which is where I grew up, I might be talented enough to be a bartender and that is about it. There is no way I can compete with all you smart hardworking people. I moved overseas specifically to get away from much more talented hardworking people.
In spite of knowing the fact that there is not going to be any improvement even after CFA level 2, why are so many people crazy about it? Does the situation improve after CFA level 3? What is the point of going through the pain if one doesn’t get any advantage on resume or while applying to B school?

Shot through the heart…and you’re to blame !

From mid-2007 until now, there have been more financial analysts than financial analysis jobs. It’s a situation of supply and demand that’s inescapable. Anecdotally, the unemployment rate among CFA charterholders in NYC was about 20% in 2009. Presumably, things have been even harder for non-charterholders looking for finance positions. The situation will reverse itself at some point in the future, but it’s hard to predict whether that will happen in 2012, 2013, or 2017.
it will be 2017 according to my calculations
