@sgupta0827: From some top-25 college. @Wendy: This is human nature. People are never satisfied with what they get.
My Tea Boy has an MBA Wendy. In India you literally have people running MBA programs out of sheds and basements. It’s absolutely astonishingly silly. I want to burst out laughing whenever I see a 21 year old send me his CV asking for a “Management” position. I tend to only hire people that have engineering degrees here, not because what I do is engineering related, but because anyone who studies “Management” has a severe aversion to actually doing work.
I see the discussion here has went far from where I had actually thought !! This discussion was not to offend anyone in any sense…my apologies !! @ Band10sucksss : Thanks for your message…your help will be really crucial for me at this stage…Please drop me a test mail @ rachit.agl@gmail.com, i would really appreciate your help…My expectations are not too high as I said I am just looking for a entry level position…I was a trader but lost my job due to extremely volatile markets (thanks to US and Europe debt levels :()…
How competitive are finance jobs in India anyways these days? Always assumed they’d be more competitive than in US…
Anything that pays well is extremely competitive in India.
When you say entry level positions…are you talking about graduate schemes or general vacancies advertised on company websites/other sources?..

Always assumed they’d be more > competitive than in US… Cut throat. So many skilled fellows and all trying to build complex SOTP valuation models in excel. Increased awareness that entire value can be destroyed by modifying few tax laws and capital structure decisions. Of course, still hoping for US SEC like quality for mandatory disclosure laws in annual report.
Called Competitive Advantage. If you end up in the short list and the rest do not have same and rest of qualifications / experience are same then you are ahead. In today’s world that everything collapses not a surprise you are not landing into a job. Timing is against you and everybody as well as we all live in the edge. Sharpen your skills (by obtaining the Charter) and you will be on top when the next cycle begins. Congrats for L2 and stick to it. Best.
