Oh my, why do Americans have this irrational fear of socialism? Christ, even Einstein had good things to say about socialism. He discussed it back in 1950 as a possible answer to out of control capitalism. The real threat America faces is itself.

Only read the headline, but yes that’s true also. For decades the US has been meddling in Middle East affairs (in order to keep oil flowing). The US has done way more to upset the peace than some little “ISIS” nobodies.

Communism and socialism are not the same thing; I would not compare today’s France with the USSR. Within communism or socialism, there can be a broad variation in the power of government as well.

Americans dislike socialism for one basic reason: they believe the US is the best country in the world, due to its capitalist ideology, and in many ways it is. At the same time, the US is becoming more socialist in some ways. So there is at least some plurality of Americans that supports some degree of socialism.
