but i’m only about 8 pgs into the new tax section of PM and i’m bored to tears. this has to be the most painful reading so far in terms of holding my interest. not surprising that the word DRAG is mentioned already a billion times- this section is a drag, bigtime. staying out til 2:30am also probably isn’t doing wonders for my appreciation of all things CFAI this morning either. i’m sensing a not super productive day ahead, but i’m going to try to push on through after a small break. i might need some helping hands to stay on task today team. i really would like to finish the PM readings.
Bannisja, You’re my inspiration. I’m a newly L2 candidate and I’m struggling to get into the groove. I was in a wedding all weekend which prevented me from getting any studying done. I’m still slowly making my way through Econ. While I was careful and slow with quant, the material still is a bit foreign to me. With everyone on this board as far as they are, I feel like the caboose of the L2 train…
i’m more like an after school special. bannisja was on pace to pass L2, she studied a fair amount, and then in the few weeks leading up to the test, she decided to take her foot off of the gas, doing unspeakable things like going to her 10 yr college reunion instead of really reviewing that BSAS practice test econ section where BOP was detailed. when results came out, most of her AF nerd friends all moved up a level while she wears her scarlet letter, or should i say number: 10 (as in my failure band) as a sign for all to see. you’ll get into the groove. slowly i’m finding mine again. as long as we get into stride by maybe mid-april, that’s fine. you don’t want to peak too soon. i’d say move on from econ/quant though- they’re both small on the test. spend this solid time with FSA/corp fi/equity. nail those all over 70 and you’ve got a great shot. every point is important, but if it’s your 1st time, get very familiar with FSA and equity and soon. there’s a lot there but it’s good bang for the buck- you can feel with about a 99% confidence interval that you’ll get an item set on pensions and one on intercorporate investments. can’t say the same about the international fisher equation. put down the econ, pick up the FSA i say. you’re going to rock it.
I am done with my temp job in taxes on 4/15. I"m praying that I can use my time away from work to pass L2. A new job is not really a priority since I start my full time MBA program in August.
I heard from many other guys that PM (taxes) is killller.
it’s just boring- quite a few formulas to learn but it isn’t anything confusing. i finished up the read, going to do the practice questions after lunch. and perhaps a nap. soccer game later so i won’t be a complete waste of space all day.
i am finding alot of the material VERY dry. Mostly the equity section, I catch myself drifting alot (porters 5 forces)
omg, i’ve been through just about every topic briefly… nothing is interesting. Just finished that tax section on PM, and re-read fixed income… I’m starting FSA again… somebody shoot me.
taxes in PM and PE in Alt Inv are drag
