Thank u cfacowtown and chuckrox8…cfacowtown…tell me something…are the buttons that hard to press? The reason i ask u this is that i have read the same on the net. Please advice.
Schweser is good, I dont know about stalla. I used BA II plus professional and was happy with it. One advantage is that you dont have to unscrew any thing while changing the battery, just very easy and useful overall. Good Luck!
I didn’t find them hard to press, but others have complained. I’m not one to care if the functions work. They are stiffer then some calculators, but for me it forced me to slow down, which I didn’t see as a disadvantage at all.
I had both BA II Professional & TI BA II Plus for the exam. I used TI BA II Plus throughtout my preparation stages, and bought BA II Professional two days before the exam, and that’s the one I used during the exam. Worked flawlessly. No complains either way.
Thank u so much guys…u rock…i will pray for u guys…and next year same time same day and same place…i am sure…u will be helping me out with level 2 exam. Cheers BUT for rest of u people out there…keep it coming.

There is a LACK of time, catching up with the girlfriend, meeting friends, work and working out etc. ok ok, schweser is sufficient to pass the exam, only if you put in the time and the effort. Videos? I didn’t use any, I don’t think any of my colleagues did. If you find it useful to upload it on your zune or ipod and play it on the way to work/gym etc, then do so. You have 18 months to prepare, relax and enjoy life for now.

Thanks for the opinion esco…But dude…whats up with 18 months…i think i have an year…right?haha
Ohh my badd, for some reason I thought Dec 2010, lol. You still have a ton of time, maybe just start reading the texts to familiarize yourself with some key concepts.
Comeon guys…let the wisdom spread…keep the opinions coming
STILL WAITING…come on people
Dude I appreciate your lively spirit but you’re going to have to be a little more patient than 3 minutes between posts. Most of us work, and have mountains of backlogged work from last week, and peruse AF when we have a spare second.

I did as follows: October last - started my first iteration. Just read CFAI text and answered end of chapter readings. I took December and half of January off and went on a long holiday. Mid January - continued reading CFAI text and finished first week of February. February to end of March - Read all Schweser, wrote my own flashcards as I went along, solved the end of chapter Schweser questions. Hit 50 questions on Qbank each day. April 9th. Took the first CFAI sample - got 67%. I then hit Qbank hard for April and May. Every Saturday in May I took either a BSAS mock, CFAI mock or Schweser Mock. 240 questions each time and passed every one of them. I also passed the last two CFAI sample exams. The material is not that difficult for level 1, but you have to be committed. Whatever route you take, it will be painful. However it feels really good to have it over and done with and feel confident. Best of luck, hope to see you for L2 in 2010
Thanks soddy1979…best of luck to u dude.
We’d love to help you. Don’t rush us. We’re tired. I haven’t even responded to all my family’s calls asking “HOW DID IT GO??” and I’m sure I’m not alone. Sorry but you’re not a priority. If you’re not taking the exam until June 2010 there is zero reason to take shortcuts. Sure, the cfai texts are lengthy and voluminous but as a result I believe they help reinforce concepts and retention. So instead of reading schweser and having to go back to look up stuff 10 times, you may find yourself taking longer to read the cfai text and only having to go back 3 times to make sure you have it all straight. I used cfai text and schweser. I found it to be a good combination. Qbank is essential to keep stuff fresh in your mind. Also really liked the custom tests where you can choose what topics to include and with what weights. Also attended 3-day seminar in Chicago which I thought was helpful. The 3 day fee included access to the schweser library so that’s the only reason I used them. Waste of time. There are plenty of videos on youtube about these topics. Review ethics ONLY from cfai sources. You will waste a lot of time trying to figure out why you got schweser’s questions wrong - for no reason. Use the standards of practice handbook and review the examples. End of chapter questions are a must - and pay close attention to any involved examples in the text…these seem to be the cfai’s sweethearts. Best of luck to you.
Thanx slorte…i sincerely appreciate u taking time out of ur busy schedule to answer my query and pray that u pass the exam with rocking figures…BUT dude i didn’t like the part were u used the phrase"Sorry but you’re not a priority"…i understand what u mean…but i am sure u could have put it in a different way…man i just asked for the opinions from guys who were online…i didn’t call up all the members at there cellphone to answer my query…i do understand that u r tired and busy with ur work…anways…BEST OF LUCK TO U .
stalla was good for a couple of reasons 1. peter olinto - this guy narrates and appears in the majority of the video lessons you get and he’s great. the schweser instructors might as well be monotone computer voices. 2. thought the material was more thoroughly detailed in stalla. though some of the practice questions in the software were well beyond the difficultly on the actual exam, it prepares you for the worst and forces you to understand the concept behind the formulaic calculations. downside - there were more typos and errors than i would have expected but from what i’ve seen of schweser, they’re aren’t any better.
thx st_louis…appreciate it man
no harm intended jatboy - apologies if I sounded harsh. another note…make sure you keep up with text errata. It’s posted on cfai website and updated regularly. one particular error in the taxes reading had me bashing my head against a wall, a few days later I noticed the correction in the errata sheet. Those were a painful couple of days. Schweser also posts errata on their website. keep this in mind as you’re helping along your colleagues…remind them also to check for these posted errors. best wishes to you.
jatboy…where r u located… please advice.
