numi - may I have your email address?

You mentioned you do interview prep on occasion right? I’d like to pick your brain about something and I’m willing to pay for your time. Do you have an email address where I can reach you?

OK great, thanks. I actually got three e-mails tonight about my mock interview and resume/cover letter services, so if you care to identify which one you are, feel free to let me know. I also responded with a document summarizing the career advisory services I provide. Thanks for your interest!

Email sent.

Is this for real ?

Maybe it’s my newly discovered Scrooge-like attitude, but is it not forbidden to promote any kind of paid service on AF according to the forum’s rules?

AHHHHHH Come onnnnn it’s good ole’ Numi.

Numi, I don’t want to hijack the thread but I was wondering how much of the CFA program was discussed in your interviews if at all?

I would also be really interested to know the answer to ^this Q. Initially, when I registered for the program (07), I thought the CFA would help me open doors to few decent MBA programs. But after 3-feet deep (CFA-L3) inside the cold water, I understand that’s unfortunately not the case. I am also not from the industry and you can understand the pains I had to go through to pass each level!

I do not want to speak for Numi, but if I remember correctly, I think he passed L1 and then decided the CFA was not really a “requirement” for PE so he decided to stop with his pursuit of the charter. Hence, the CFA subject probably did not come up much in his bschool interviews and, if it did, I am sure Numi crafted a nice spin on why did not continue with the charter (i.e more self fulfilling things to do with your time like volunteering and non-profit work).

I’ll also add that if any of you are seriously contemplating getting an MBA, I *highly* recommend that you carefully consider the trade-offs in time between the CFA program and taking a leadership role in your alumni organization, community, or just doing something you’re passionate about. The best thing is to get involved in a local board or community organization where you not only serve a cause that you really care about, but that somehow can tie into your longer term goals. Of course, if the CFA program fits directly into your longer-term goals, go for it…but realize there are also a lot of personal and professional benefits by getting involved in a local board, not only in terms of the experience you get but also in terms of the people you meet.
