Anyone have thoughts on the NYSSA course in NYC? I am a Level 3 retaker and I took the NYSSA sample class last week and went in thinking I would just go in and get some free tidbits and walk out of there not purchasing their products because a) they’re very expensive and b) I learn best with personal study at my own pace, not in a lecture setting.
However, I loved Nathan Ronen. We spent 1+ hour going through a single IPS question from the 2005 exam and his explanation was wonderful. He has been teaching for 15+ years and was a CFA grader at one point, so I feel like he can provide lots of valuable input that none of the review books can. Now I am seriously considering signing up for the course, which meets weekly for 3 hours from mid January to early May. Although I never learned best in a lecture setting I feel like something like this is good for a retaker because the professor can help fill in your holes / weak spots which would probably not be corrected the second time around if you’re on your own.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
BTW, my first post since August. Let’s all kill this thing this year.
Nathan Ronen’s video on exam strategies on NYSSA website looks very informative…Unfortunately, I dont live there but I have also enrolled for a similar weekly review class offered by the San Francisco CFA society.Hope it all works out well for me in the end. Since you are already familiar with the curriculum I think you stand a better chance to optimize these review classes
Hi Praha- I’m in SF too and I plan on enrolling in that class. Do you mind if I ask you if you paid for the live streaming thing as well? I’m still debating between the two options. Thanks in advance!
Hi dean99, I have enrolled for the evening review classes only. If you are confused between the two options, you can consider attending their exam strategy session (if you haven’t already attended one) coming up on 8h Dec at SF. The instructor there might be able to help you out.
