I agree 100%, which is why I’m in favor of allowing people who want those jobs to have them. It bothers me that a good part of the immigration debate is politicians pandering to lazy or racist white people who complain about Mexicans because they don’t want to admit that their “skills” are only worth about $5 per hour. I don’t care what race the guy who performs unskilled labor for me is, and that’s the reality these guys need to embrace.
Again, just personal observations here, but Mexicans generally cooperate, have good family structures, and take care of themselves, like many generations of Asians, Jews, Russians, etc have done in this country. The ones that go to school and learn the language have every opportunity to succeed.
In my city there are bums on every corner and they’re 100% middle aged anglo or black men. “Hard times” or “Need work.” I have zero sympathies and don’t give them a dime because at that same stoplight there are 12 Mexicans piled in the back of a truck, covered in dirt, on the way to their second job.
^I’ve never subscribed to the “mexicans are lazy” stereotype. As far as I can tell, those guys are willing to do manual labor in any sort of weather, all day for what I generally spend on my hourly alcohol budget.

From personal anecdotes Skilled immigration is easiest to the USA which does not discriminate much on ethnicity unlike a few other western nations. The system could perhaps be made even more lenient but the factors that are pulling skilled immigrants aways from the USA and back to their homeland are things that cannot be combated with relaxed and easier laws.

Your post is extremely deceiving and I’m calling shenanigans on you. A person making 12k a year is probably TAKING tax dollars, not PAYING tax dollars. Consider this scenario:

Husband makes 12k income. Wife makes 6k. They have 2 kids under the age of 10 because these people screw like rabbits.

The $3800 personal exemption x 4 people cuts off the next 15k (they didn’t even need 9 of it)
The tax base is ZERO, so it doesnt matter if the they have to pay a self exmployment tax. X% of 0 = 0

Fun anecdote being a legal immigrant. Just went to renew my driver’s license. Had my passport, my immigration documents, etc. Did everything, picture, etc…and then “Sir, we can’t renew your DL today.”
“Why not? I have everything.” “Well, you do, but the computer isn’t authorizing you and this is going to have to run through immigration for them to clear you, then come back.” “How long does this take?” “3-20 business days” Never mind that my DL expires within that time frame, given the holidays, and when asked what I could do, they advised me to not drive on an expired license. Unbelievable… you can have all the right paperwork, valid and unexpired, and still deal with this. Last time, I got my DL on the spot like a regular person.
Never mind most anybody else can just renew online for years and years and have a photo ID that doesn’t resemble them, but whatever… not to mention anybody that’s here illegally probably won’t bother to get a valid DL.
