% of Stock Returns Determined by Sector Performance?

Anyone have a link to a reputable paper online regarding the determinants of stock prices? Specifically what percentage of prices are determined by sector, macro factors rather than stock/company specific factors? And bonus points if someone has a fed paper on the subject. I cant seem to find one.

We hit this last summer I believe. At one end there’s a Vanguard study showing asset allocation accounts for ~102% of return with the residual (-2%) attributable to manager. In that thread that mentioned that result (perhaps posted by me) other papers were cited.

Which thread?

Darien, thats so money. Thanks.

“that’s so money”… I forgot about that expression… it’s so funny! what film/book is it from?

I believe it’s from Swingers…

You believe correct. Also from Swingers…“You’re all growns up! All growns up!”

Swingers, great movie came out in '96. Unfortunately nobody can show a picture or talk about Las Vegas, Nevada since then without saying “Vegas, baby.”
