Passed borderline… Level II kicked my ass but managed to make it alive. Will not be repeating the same mistakes for Level III. My preparation was wayyyy too light! Congrats to everyone who passed and stay strong for those who didn’t. -There is no failure except in no longer trying- See you in lvl III.

Passed !!! such a relief…I had failed horribly last year, at Band 2, due to lack of preparation and practice. So, surely feels good now. All the work and hrs put in this time finally paid off.

It’s certainly inspiring to hear someone who did as poorly as I did (no offense), finally pass Lvl2 on the second attempt. What did you do different?

The differences between pass and fail are very hard to tell. I had almost the exact same score sheet as acorona except I had one fewer area less than 50% (my corp fin was in the middle), but he passed and I failed in band 9. My “strong areas” were either just over 70% while his were near 100%, or his worst areas were close to 50% while mine were damn near 0% (that’s probably the most likely since I seem to be a terrible guesser).

Fail…got screwed by Ethics, which I usually do really well on…also should have done much better in FI. Will get through next year… Item SetQ#TopicMax Pts<=50%51%-70%>70% -Alternative Investments18-*- -Corporate Finance36-*- -Derivatives36*-- -Economics18*-- -Equity Investments72–* -Ethical & Professional Standards36*-- -Financial Reporting & Analysis72–* -Fixed Income Investments36*-- -Portfolio Management18-*- -Quantitative Methods18-*-

Passed on my second try. Results were not impressive and very close to my Level 1 breakdown. It wasn’t pretty but got the job done. Derivatives, FRA and ETHICS saved my a$$. Am totally thrilled but the memory of last year’s fail is still with me. Guess it will take a couple days to sink in… Item Set Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 18 - * - - Corporate Finance 36 * - - - Derivatives 36 - - * - Economics 18 - * - - Equity Investments 72 - * - - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - - * - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - - * - Fixed Income Investments 36 * - - - Portfolio Management 18 * - - - Quantitative Methods 18 * - -

Do any of the passers remember most of the material from the exam? I myself don’t. Makes me question the legitimacy or the charter… does it only mean we are good at taking exams and studying???

naaat, the material you learn in the CFA is useless. You won’t ever use it. Just like an MBA, the degree is useless, but it’s just a hurdle that has to be cleared. It sucks and the CFAI is a huge cash cow, but that’s the way it is.

no question it is totally unfair… the problem is that the pass/fail bar has to be set somewhere and no matter where you set it you will screw a bunch of people on the wrong side of that bar… There are a bunch of things that CFAI could do to make this a little fairer… like not using cryptic language and little footnote disclaimers at the bottom of bond tranche tables…

Failed band 7, 1st attempt but no regrets. I expected a band 9-10 though. Totally relying on Schweser Videos and Schweser practice tests was a huge gamble that didn’t paid off this time. I should have opened the books :(. This is behind me now. I will start FRM Part 2 prep starting tomorrow. This is another beast. Good luck to all of you for the next exam. - Alternative Investments 18 * - - - Corporate Finance 36 * - - - Derivatives 36 - * - - Economics 18 * - - - Equity Investments 72 - - * - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - - * - Fixed Income Investments 36 * - - - Portfolio Management 18 - - * - Quantitative Methods 18 * - -

I passed and it is a miracle! I studied hard but I got sick on the exam day because of travelling and not sleeping well…had tears in my eyes while attempting the morning session as I was unable to concentrate. At one time I gave up and and took a nap right in the middle of the exam to clear my head off. I was so sure that I would fail that these two months actually went well because when you are sure that you’re not gonna make it, you just relax. Anyway passing this exam reaffirms my faith in the higher power above. So it can be done if you are in a crunch like I was. BTW, I do not have a MS or MBA degree so Schweser is definitely enough to pass this exam. You just have to remember everything in those books. You can’t skim over anything!

What did you do different? @DPagiazitis: I was in the same boat last year and had felt horrible. I had used Schweser notes only and limited EOC’s. I had not practiced, so had faced lot of difficulty during the exam. This time I used Schweser videos, CFAI texts and EOCs, and CFA Mocks. I think praticing EOCs multiple times and CFAI texts were the key this time. I had started a bit early concentrating on my weak areas, and was able to review the CFAI text multiple times too. I would suggest that its definately worth a try.

Band 9 last year, marginal pass this time around! Thanks God, most gracious, most merciful… EOC questions are the single most important thing for level 2 preparation, imho.
