oh yes, you are right. My bad. I was doing it too fast and misplaced a few decimals. 59% - 83% is right So, if you took the smack middle, you get about 71%
EDIT: This is a reply to Foghorn Leghorn, apparently I don’t know how to work these intricate writing machines. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you must have been at the very top of every range. If you flip the Alt and Corp performance, and the Derv and Econ performance, you get my score (so, very similar in their matrix) but I got a band 9 Fail. It goes to show how much range their reporting system allows. Pass: Alt Investments -*- Corp Fin --* Derivatives -*- Economics *-- Equity Investments -*- Ethics --* FRA -*- Fixed Income -*- Portfolio Management -*- Quantitative Methods *-- Band 9 Fail Alt Investments --* Corp Fin -*- Derivatives *-- Economics -*- Equity Investments -*- Ethics --* FRA -*- Fixed Income -*- Portfolio Management -*- Quantitative Methods *-- To any potential takers, I have a Finance bachelors degree and about 6 months of relevant work, and studied about 50 hours. The test is very doable if you studied finance in school and still remember it. I’d like to think that if I had not failed Quant I would have passed, but I guess that wasn’t even needed, just better performance across the board.

Yes, with finance background 50-80 hours should be all right. I had no eco/financial background whatsoever, I’ve put in around 300 hours (and passed with >70% in every segment)
i majored in biological science, has no background in finance before and no work experience in finance, I work as an assistant healthcare aid btw, it was really tough to go thru the entire curriculum and the passing is just sweet as a dream after slogging almost 300 hours amid a shift work schedule that is so demanding, I lost 20lbs throughout the process but it totally worth it! I definitely will move on with the level 2 and 3 and “occupy Wall Street”!
This was a close one, but I knew I would be on the cusp either way. I got my results at 3am local time and havent slept since, just f*cking amped! that was a pass by the way
I have MBA-Chicago and CPA, studied CFA materials for one month solid, did two Kaplan practice tests and passed. Oddly, I failed Econ, but did very well in Derivatives, Equity Inv, Quant, and Ethics.

IF (and this may be a big if) every question is equally weighted regardless of section, and given the rounding within the ranges, we may be able to find the MPS. That pass was between 113 and 171 correct responses (47.08% and 71.25%). The band 9 is 116 to 169 (48.33% to 70.42%), so they are extremely similar. If we took everyone’s results as a system, we could narrow the passing rate substantially.
Band 10 in june 11 and band 9 in dec 11. Lack of preparation isn’t the reason why (over 300 hours both times and qbank + endless mocks and EOCs this time around). Pretty devastated, wasted a year and still fucked up both times on a relatively easy exam. I don’t know why I can’t get over this hump. I do not want to quit and let this exam defeat me but I am beyond pissed at myself for fucking this up again.

Were you doing good on the mocks?
June 11 mocks (elan and CFAI) i was averaging high 60s low 70s. Dec 11 I was averaging higher in the 70s. Congrats to those who aren’t retarded and actually passed.
^ yea failing L1 twice must suck. Don’t want to be a dick, but L2 and L3 are significantly harder. Think hard if it is worth it to go through with it. It will be a LOT of sacrifice and time taken away from your personal life
I have no idea how some people can get over 70 in all subjects here… I passed the December exam, I don’t even know how because my marks in June (Band 10) looked so much better, I had the 5 subjects with most points over 70 including ethics, all else 51-70 and derivatives under 50 and failed. Now I only have 3 smaller subjects over 70, ethics is in the 51-70 range, but I passed so who cares! Anyway, the pass mark of the December exam must be under 70%, and it doesn’t look like ethics makes that much of a difference.
Passed, >70% all subjects. Why doesn’t CFAI let me register for L2 til tomorrow? If I were them I would get everyone while they euphoria was still going…

Well, I’d say half the questions for each section are relatively easy and the other half are pretty difficult. Get the easy half right, guess with the remainder, and you’re averaging ~76%
