it seems like there were a lot of all >70% (myself included), as others have mentioned. It seems like there were even more than in June. Does anyone have any theories about this (easier test, a lot of retakers, etc.)? Of course, I could just be imagining it.
the passing rate of 35 % is same as for june 08 ?
june was 39%

No confidence on that topic at all before the exam. Thought I’m gonna lose it. This is my 2nd time. Failed in band 8 in June.
Yay I passed! : ) I just got back from a 3-week vacation and this was definitely great news! Thanks to AFers for all the help… and congrats to everyone who passed!

Oh Tuesday.
my old band 10 results…I literally only needed about 1 more in each section to pass Level 1: Fail Multiple Choice Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 8 - * - - Corporate Finance 20 - * - - Derivatives 12 - - * - Economics 24 - * - - Equity Investments 24 - * - - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Financial Reporting & Analysis 48 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 28 - * - - Portfolio Management 12 - * - - Quantitative Methods 28 - * - Performance band of your overall score among all candidates who failed the exam: 10 I hope to be replacing this with a PASS on Tuesday!
That’s a band 10? You only really passed one section, and it was one of the smaller sections. Anyway, good luck. Looks like there’s going to be an onslaught of people with <10 posts posting their results come Tuesday.
yes, a real band 10. Weirest result I’ve ever seen for a 10. yes, i only passed 1 section but at a band 10 that means I literally had 67s - 68s in every other section meaning just about 1 more question per section to pass. It’s a brutal band 10.
Guys I think we just try to read too much into these split ups which have so high a range (50 to 70 in middle section that puts 51 and 69 in the same class) that no one can conclude anything. I agree though it is very natural for all to try to diagnose what exactly happened… Based on what I have learnt so far about grading 1) Be above 70% gross and you are almost safe w/o worrying about sectional cut offs 2) What happens below that is anybody’s guess (Debates will continue over the role of Ethics and estimated MPS etc etc) 3)If you PASS have fun…if not take some time to recollect urself and get back to the business of studying…
Damn Bill, at least you were consistent! Like you said, you must have scored 67-68 in every section. 2 or 3 more correct answers and you probably would have passed. I’m sure you killed it this time around.
