CFAI 2010 AM 68% I feel good though because there were certainly a lot of points I should have gotten (ex. put down a target beta of 1 instead of 0 when trying to remove systematic risk), but missed because I was worried about time even though it was not a factor. Probably should have scored in the mid-high 70s. I feel a lot more comfortable with the way the CFA presents the questions as opposed to Stalla. They are much more clear about what they are looking for. I wish I woudl have sat for last years exam because most of this stuff was right up my alley.
2011 mock 70% hating gips! wohoOOo
Schweser 1 AM 52.78% Schweser 2 AM 57.22% Schweser Mock AM 65.00% Schweser Mock PM 60.00% CFAI 2010 AM 65.00% CFAI 2009 AM 72.22% I still have a bit to go but seems to be improving, at least. Don’t think I can touch the Paraguays (phew!) but am aspiring for consistent mid 70s, and hope to skate by on it. With the remaining days, I plan to do CFAI 2008 AM and remaining Schweser exams from Vol 1 & 2. Should I let go of few of the Schweser’s in favor of the CFAI sample exams?
Let go of the Schweser, do the CFA exams.

CFAI 09 tomorrow night.
CFAI 2008 was much harder than 2009 and 2010, at least for me.
CFAI 2010 AM. 82.22% no partial credit. Did poorly on asset pricing with the biasses even though everyone talks about them I should have known it was coming. Got the leading indicators right but that is from working in industry not from the book. Messed up the trades because I did not read the part about being able to offset losses against income. Making my way less tax efficient (I offset loss with sale of equity at a gain). Finally I picked the Russell 3000 after crossing out the SPX on the performance evaluation section like a complete idiot. Beta and R2 are most important. Very foolish on my behalf.

I thought it was fairly easy. At first I wanted to add back taxes, however after second thought I realized it was a TDA so it would grow Tax deferred. The simple key I learned on this years Schweser mock. Draw out every cash flow in every section. Whether it be derivatives or IPS etc. If you can visualize all the cash flows you can get the right answer in 99% of the circumstances.
CFAI 2007 AM: 62 CFAI 2011 Mock(PM): 78
Got 2008, 2009, 2010 CFAI AM tests, but does anyone have link to the PM item sets? Old CFAI “Mock” exams? Please pass on the link if you have it, or pls mail Izabella at gmail. Thanks and good luck everyone!!!
Finished the last sample. 80% I find it weird that despite having done very little studying of GIPS I continue to bang out 5/6’s… I’m still gunna hit this section hard next week though… don’t want to get caught in a batch of the “dates” questions. First vignette killed me, 3/6… and messed up on a couple options questions; pretty standard stuff so I’m annoyed about those.

Definitely possible to get mid 80’s.
*sigh* of relief. CFAI Sample 1 = 83% CFAI Sample 2 = 80% I made 2 really stupid mistakes… both on GIPS. I misread the question and when they said discuss columns I thought they meant discuss the notes… bah. Still pretty happy to get those scores! Paraguay I was so on track to beat you on that one! With 8 questions left I was 20/22…

For those who have completed 2009. The first question - Return objective/calc for 12 points. The question requested pre-tax return calc. My answer was nearly 100% correct, except I used after tax income needs in the return calc, which gave me an after tax return requirement of ~8.6 or so (vs. the cfai pre tax return calc of 9.something). I gave myself an overall 8/12. How would you guys score yourself if you did something similar?

The ones I pick up in reading I memorize but not really any specifically, I ran flash cards for a week so I have quite a few memorized but there are much better things to spend your time on.

Finished last of the Schweser’s Book 3 Exam 3 AM 73% PM 78% I thought overall the Book 2 exams were easier than the real thing and did not require much time (nothing over 2 hrs). So as a repeater, after doing BSAS, Schweser Mock, 6 Schweser Practice exams, CFAI Samples and mock, 2007-2010 AM exams: BSAS was more difficult than real exam (with lots of errors) Schweser Mock was more difficult than actual exam (both AM and PM) Schweser Practice Exams are mostly easier than the real thing.
CFAI Mock 2011 -55%- pretty terrible one for me.
