Hey folks, so with L1 coming up pretty quick I’ve been trying to decide if I should move on into L2 right after. At this point I’m pretty confident I’ll pass it, so my next concern is getting in enough study time to pass L2 in June. I’d obviously have to start studying sooner rather than later which brings me to my question: can I order the L2 printed CFAI materials before getting results/registering for L2? Or would I have to find them on ebay somewhere, or use schweser?
I simply won’t get the ~500 hrs if I can’t get the material until february, and I haven’t heard any solid enough reviews about L2 third party material to want to use that. Worst comes to worst I’ll just have to find the ebooks which isn’t too hard, but I’ll avoid studying from the ipad as long as possible.
I don’t believe CFAI will allow you to register for L2 until you receive your passing results from L1, so you will not get material directly from them. I’m sure Schweser will be more than happy to sell you their L2 material immediately. It’s been some years since I cleared L2, but I found Schweser to be more than adequate when combined with CFAI’s end of chapter questions.
I did the Dec L1 / June L2 turnaround this past year and you cannot register for L2 until you officially pass L1. But there was a section on their website under the “toolkit” or whatever that let you download the first handful of readings for L2 in the meantime. Honestly, I didn’t really start studying until Feb because I needed the time to relax and blow off some steam, but to each their own.
Yeah, I’ve procrastinated so much on L1 that I’m trying to figure out how not to do that a second time. And if I’m going to realistically hit the 500 hr mark by June, I’ll have to start right after Christmas, assuming I maintain current habits. One month off outta be plenty for me anyway, imo. If all else fails, Schweser it is.
I know L1 isn’t the hardest exam but try not to get too far ahead of yourself… Reading your post I had an image of a pro golfer missing a 6 inche putt because he was thinking about the next hole…
