Panic/Fed up/Depressed - how to motivate?

I think I am burnt out. I seem to be losing knowledge not gaining. I am a resitter and am putting a huge amount of pressure on myself to pass this time, but retaining info so hard and can’t seem to get out of bed. Any tips on how to make use of the rest of the week?

im on the same boat. i desperately dont want to fail this exam as i dont believe ill have the motivation to do it again… your title says it all, panic, depression and most importantly fatigue, thats why im gonna take it easy two days before the exam. in no do i wanna be burnt out on d day. I just hope we get lucky, and get tested on stuff we know because lets face it, the curriculum’s size is formidable.

agree - there is just too much to remember I wouldn’t recommend drinking a bottle of wine whilst trying to do EOCs - that didn’t work too well for me last night

haha. i understand, i did the CFA 2011 sample 1 while having a slight hangover, didnt enjoy the experience at all! thats why I have avoided alchohol during the last couple of weeks. Im not taking any chances with level 2!

same here. Totally burnt out this week and just want to get the exam over and done with.

Don’t worry, OP, you ain’t the only one. Tips? -Eat and sleep well. Exercise.

don’t eat mcdonald’s (or any fast food crap) as a late night study snack close to the exam. stress + lack of sleep + filth in your stomach = constipation during the exam!! and if you ever need a laugh…watch some comedy central roast’s on youtube. especially donald trump’s. haha

i watch like 2-3 min humor clips. interviews on dailyshow.com. i suggest watching Between Two Ferns w/ Zach Galifianakis on funnyordie.com. it is the best 2-3 min break you can get before going to studying. all but the last one w/ will ferrell are great.

I think I’m addicted to Tosh.O lately… so funny!

@prophets, funny u mention it , but im actually watching it right now!!!

i felt like this a few days ago. take an afternoon off, go outside and get some exercise, then do something relaxing. your brain needs a rest. trust me it’ll work wonders.

Yeah, take some time off. I’ve gotten burned out several times on this trek, every time a day off and maybe some time with friends or loved ones helped get me back to studying.

Cheers to all in this post, Talked to a guy who passed level II last June and he had these words of wisdom, “no matter how much you studied or prepared, no self respecting individual can know it all. It’s partial preparation, partial luck on what questions are asked. Pick one thing you really don’t know every day this week and master it. After that… Just sit this s**t and get it done. And f**k derivatives… No one knows that s**t” Good luck to all. I have forgon my wife and 6 month old, first born son for this, so let’s just hope it wasn’t all in vain!

Thanks. I’m pretty fed-up too and this is my second serious attempt at Level II.

I’m going with the targeting hit approach. There’s a handful of topics that I’m just not even looking at. There’s just so much material it’s stupid.

waiguoren: very practical point he has made indeed … good luck to all of us

Very good points, thanks for the encouragments!! For me though, I feel great about derivatives, quant methods, portfolio mgmt et cetera…but whenever I see an accounting based question I lose all confidence… I’m going to focus alot of time this week on Intercorporate investments, multinationals, and pension accounting… then i’ll be feeling good! I just hate reading the FSA section…accounting is my least favorite section strangely enough

For me best approach is to take a deep breath and do an actual calc even on theory questions… Say what is the impact of … Vs …, or how would the ratio of … Be different from … Grab your calculator and figure out which direction it goes… Its all about thinking through logically and generally you ge the righ answer. Sorry if it seems overly simplistic

Much more confident than I was this time last year. I’m just using the final few days to keep going over my hand written notes of summaries of key points. It’s about 100 pages in total so I’m just trying to drill it in as much as possible.

derivatives & quant = 25% = FAIL derivatives & quant = 10% = PASS
