Papa needs a new pair of shoes

McLeod! What’s up man? I watched the AE video and they sold me. Where would I look for the seconds? Is there a site?

Bankin! This thread like a reunion. You and McLeod have my going on Allen Edmonds now. I am going to look more into it. I will have to go into the city proper to get them, but that isn’t a big deal.

The pair I am moving away from are Bostonian.

You can get AE’s either from a retail store (the company has at least two in NYC, and I think there are others), online at their website, or through Zappos and a few other sites. The AE website has a “clearance” section which may have ‘seconds’, and Zappos occasionally runs sales. In NYC, I think that the yearly sale happens in January, but I’m not 100% on that.

Not sure if they have any close to you, but I’ve picked up a pair of AE for as little as $100 at Nordstrom Rack. That said, it would be worth going into one of their physical stores to get measured and figure out which of their lasts best fit your feet. If there isn’t a physical store in your area, you may think about checking this out: http://www.allenedmonds.com/aeonline/AllAboutLastsView?langId=&storeId=1&catalogId=40000000001 I made the mistake of buying a pair based on size/width alone and the shoe (Bel Air) was really made for someone with a longer narrower foot than I have. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if I didn’t plan on keeping (and recrafting) these things for years to come, but after a few years of wear it has resulted in some strange creases on the toe of the upper. With that out of the way, I plan to start golf lessons in the next few weeks. Got any tips?

I wear Asics Gel Nimbus or a Cole Haan sneaker/oxford hybrid to work every day but then again I wear jeans and tshirts to work. Maybe a polo shirt if there is an “All Hands on Deck.” You mad?

Ecco loafers. They make really comfy golf shoes as well. Have both and they feel like pillows on my feet.

What up mwvt & Bankin’. Good to see the AF '09 crew is still representing. AE has seconds at all of their retail locations. They have a bunch of locations in WI because they’re HQ is about 10 miles from where I live. I think they have a location on 5th Ave. in NYC. Not sure about PA.

From Black-Litterman to Allen Edmonds, how far we’ve fallen! How’s life post-CFA?

Life is good man. You still in TX? It feels like a long time since we took L3.

Thanks for the tips. I will try to get properly fitted before buying anything.

Haha. No, I’m not mad. I run my own thing. I could come into the office in a hawiian shirt and flops if I wanted, but that ain’t my thing.

Still in TX all right. It does feel like a long time since Level III and the levels prior to 3 seem as distant as college…

i like the kenneth cole ( best KC busines shoe) mister man …fits n looks great

Seriously? I’ve found Kenneth Cole to be the least attractive, in terms of both quality and styles produced, of any name brand. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

yes this is true the KC are seriously ugly ( never updated their square toe design after the fad died) except for prob 2 or 3…this to me is the top… http://www.kennethcole.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3091631 if you can try it on n let me know what u think

That one doesn’t look bad at all! I was thinking of something more like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=kenneth+cole+shoe&um=1&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7GGLL_en&biw=1002&bih=792&tbm=isch&tbnid=TeFY15gKtrE6jM:&imgrefurl=http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/EC1201544-5116825/KENNETH%2BCOLE%2BREACTION/Black/Men’s%2BT-Flex.aspx&docid=C8H5diW2z34ZfM&imgurl=http://www.shoes.com/ProductImages/shoes_iaec1201544.jpg&w=350&h=350&ei=nJGlTqCkEqXZiALj3tiCAQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=430&sig=108890091597997263952&page=1&tbnh=166&tbnw=177&start=0&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0&tx=138&ty=87

oh gawd those are seriously fugly…jeez …im serious was that ever in style?..if i made more bank i would go for ferragamos …the lines on those shoes are so sublime but i wonder if they are cmofrtable

I am sticking to “Crockett & Jones” and “Santoni” shoes. Both can be ordered online in many countries. High quality leather and goodyear welted soles. C&J starts around EUR 350 and Santoni at EUR 500. But if you take care of them they will last for a lifetime (except for the soles).
