What is the usual career pathway to working as a portfolio manager for like a mutual fund company, etc?
Generally working in buy-side as an analyst, become a team lead for the portfolio manager, getting an MBA and CFA under your belt, which is helpful, as creditenials for the bigger funds are publically posted. The time spam can be 5-10 years depending on the size of the company.
