PCP Investigation

Dear all, I got PCP investigation letter saying that I continued to work on the exam for several seconds after time called and the book was kept open until the proctor came to collect the book. But I did not continue to work on the exam after time was called and I just hold the pencil without putting it down, but not working on the exam. When the proctor come to ask me to close the book then I closed the book. Can you help me how I should respond the letter to fight for it?

Thank you.

Was it only 1 proctor?

This is why I tell people to immediately drop any pencil and close the test book without a second heartbeat. For the paranoid, bring a watch and drop and close everything 5 seconds before time is up

Yes, there is only 1 proctor. Thank you. I learn the lesson this time. Just want to do my best to fight for it.

Additionally, after dropping pencil anc closing book, one should immediately put both hands behind head, as if stopped by police.

Since it’s only 1 proctor, that’s better. Sometimes multiple proctors are against you, then you are surely screwed.

Write a sincere letter saying you were just holding the pencil but not writing, that’s really the best you can do

Got it. Thank you for your advice.

If I were you, honestly, I would try my best to fight for it. However, please read this and be prepare to accept the worst.

Use of Scratch Paper

Candidates may not use scratch paper during the exam. Scratch paper includes writing paper, the exam ticket, calculator keystroke card, desk top, or any other surface.

Do they provide scratch paper or can you write in your test booklet??? Or are you supposed to do everything in your head?

There is plenty of extra blank space in the test booklet to do calculations. way more than enough. Don’t worry about that.

Loads of extra space in the exam booklet to do calculations.

BTW…do they actually check those exam booklets? Out of frustration …I think I did write some unkind words in that booklet…

Not a violation. You can say unkind words here too, eg CFA is a scam!!

John,

Can you please let me know the result of your pcp investigation? I think I am getting one for the exam this past saturday. :frowning:

^ what happened?

What were you hoping to accomplish in that last minute? You shouldn’t need all that time to take the test. Good preparation will ensure that you always have plenty of time left at the end of the exams.

Girl sitting behind me got booked as well for writing beyond stoppage. They give you some letter. I have no idea what happens next. Maybe they will make you pick up giraffe poop at a local zoo as punishment… along with suspending you. :stuck_out_tongue:

With one minute left you should always put your pencil down and close your book. When they call time make sure they see your hands and don’t touch your pencil until after they collect your booklet.

When I used to take the exams, I raised my arms in the air 5 seconds before time was up as if it was a holdup or police raid.

Yep. Agreed. Always wear a watch and close your book and have your pencil down when they call time.

^ good suggestions. I always carry a watch with me, and set it to perfectly measure 3 hours from exam start. I know literally how many seconds i have left,

and I put my pencil down, and close exam book with 10 seconds to go.
