pension expense or pension periodic cost

are they the same thing?

they are the same thing, unless you are talking about the economic pension expense compared to the period cost. In that case economic exp = (net funded position T1 - net funded position T0) + employers contribution or economic exp = adjusted change in benefit obligation - adjusted change in plan assets = (change in benefit obligation + benefits paid) - (change in plan assets - employer contributions + benefits paid) either way will give you same answer

IFRS says pension periodic expense; US GAAP says pension expnse

Is this formula correct: Economic Pension Expense = Current Service cost+ Interest cost - Actual return on the Assets I remember that i have read this!!!
