I will be dropped off and later picked up by a friend on test day tomorrow so it is kind of essential that I have a phone so I can coordinate when my friend picks me up. The CFA website says that I am not allowed to bring the phone into the testing room but they will provide an area for candidates personal belongings. Will this area be secure (meaning can I put a phone there by itself) or is it more for bigger bags that everyone just leaves on the floor and hopes for the best that they don’t get stolen?
bigger bags, not secure
Some places have lockers or a site where people leave their belongings. Others have nothing. I would log into the CFAI and check your test center details.

secure, been there done that if it makes you uncomfortable, leave the phone at your friend’s car and call him/her from a public phone. If you are really really cheap and don’t wanna spend a quarter ask your fellow candidates to use their cell phones. they will help
in chicago it was most definitely not secure, iphones all that shit laying out on a table with no names on them.
i have a leash for both Mobius Striptease’s and cfagoal2’s mothers.

P.S. - BANANANAAAAAAAAA!!!
either risk it as the odds are low that a cfa candidate would try and steal something as measly as a phone while writing a $700 test in a program that he could get kicked out of should he be caught for stealing. i’ve never heard of anything being stolen from the personal belongings area. if you’re a worrier, just bring a quarter and call on a pay phone.
If there is no secure area, take your phone and go hide it in a bush. 99% chance it will not get stolen as long as you hide it well and no one sees you do it.

pay phone hahahahahaha rly? hahahahaha for a quarter?? srsly?
^I haven’t used a pay phone in ages, but didn’t go up to like 35 cents or something? LOL
I guess I won’t be bringing my phone then. Hopefully I can track down a payphone when the test is over. BTW, if the exam ends at 5pm when will I actually be allowed to leave the test center (keeping in mind that there will be 2800 people there at the Toronto location).
GL NUPS!

Why don’t you just tell your friend to pick you up at the McDonald’s or gas station or whatever at 6pm near the test center.
or a bar?
or a Strip Club. That reminds me of a dude who used to go to lunch at a strip club across the street at least three times a week. He always ordered a “premium appetizer”, lol. Sick dude. Please don’t ban me for posting the six latest messages, Chad. I always abide to the rules of AF.
Buy a $20 prepaid cell phone, if it gets lost/stolen it won’t make a difference.
payphone in Canada is now $0.50 but i wasn’t sure about the US so thus a quarter was my suggestion. the main part of the suggestion had to do with the payphone itself.
