Curious to hear the thoughts of those actually in the investment side on this. Seems like this has been going on for a long time, like its standard practice, and like pharma companies are scummy to me. Maybe I’m wrong.

All business is like that.

It’s hard for consumer to embrace the cost of a pill being .10 and price $5.00.

But, you’re paying for all the failures.

Yes, this.

Also, still a dick move to destroy cancer drugs.

To be clear here, these were generics which had already been developed. They were purchased by a company, the company then increased the price up to 21x. The company didn’t develop shit, they just bought existing drugs, then increased prices. These drugs are generics that just have noone else making the drugs, so at this point, its profitable to have increased the prices 21x. This wasn’t about underwriting failures with the profits from the drugs that do come to market. Its about having a monopoly on a generic and then exploiting that to the detriment of the people who were using the drugs.

i hate drug companies. I have an inhaler that I use and just as the inhaler was coming off patent and would be able to be made generically the company that made it lobbied the government to ban it due to some chemical in it that was bad for the environment. Conveniently they already had another one lined up with a patent and the timing of their lobbying wasnt at all suspicious im sure. The industry does good work when it isnt relying on the government to protect its monopolies. Late stage capitalism at its finest

Oh my Gad, yeah the scarcity! Mother of all innovations

We must keep innovation fueled.

This isn’t about fueling innovation bro
