I wanted to look into switching health insurance during the enrollment period so I was researching what was available online. When I did so, the sites asked for some general info in order to give me quotes. I stupidly put in my phone number
On Sunday, the day I did the research, I got over 30 unwanted calls.
Yesterday I got just under SIXTY unwanted calls!
Today is just as bad. I try to block them but it, even if I do, the call comes though as āblockedā and they can still leave a message. I have to have the ringer off on my phone which means I miss the rare call I DO need to take. If I donāt empty my voicemail box throughout the day, I fear it will fill up.
I did register my number at donotcall.gov but I guess it takes a month to be effective. What a nightmare!
It doesnāt help much. Iāve had the same cell number since '97 so itās safe to say my # is in a lot of databases. I get about three calls a day. Now they use your prefix to make it look like itās someone you know.
I regularly get āRachel from cardholder services,ā the IRS scam, a recording from Visa Mastercard, and on special occasions Iāll receive a call from Windows support.
The IRS scam and Windows support I generally take and mess with them for a while. Might as well keep them on the phone so they donāt scam old people.
The IRS scam is SO ANNOYING! I filed my 2014 W-1 with the IRS a little bit ago and they keep calling and sending notices saying I owe them money. I wonder if my identity was stolen and sold to this scam. Anybody have any advice how to get off this list?
