Phoning friends from work

Who does it? Is it a biggie for you?

I do it when I need to, no biggie.

please DON’T if you are in a cube/on a desk, it annoys the cr@p out of the rest of us to hear your personal calls … I work next to a woman who makes calls to her friends/insurance company/airlines/you name it all day long. And no, it does not help if it is in another language, it’s still annoying… go outside and call your friends from a cellphone if you are bored.

This HR lady used to sit near me and would always be talking about her latest ONS, what he left at her house, how her next ONS would find stuff from her past ONSes, etc. She had this Irish whisper that could be heard 100feet away. I don’t even like to get caught texting in the office.

I do it. Noone cares. You have a life outside of work that is just important, tis nota sweat shop where you should be locked up from the outside world. Ok constantly doing so and wasting lots of time everyday is a bit much, but every now and then? come on people get real. Just now you will ask about going to the toilet at work

I had to move to another desk because of this problem. Totally inconsiderate. And it wouldnt be just talking, she would be fighting with her friends, her mom/dad, customer service lines. There was no way to talk to her about it and tell her to calm it down because she was this self-indulged JAP that felt that airing her grievances was warranted because of her superior stature. Bottom line, dont do it if you are not in an office. Everyone will hate you and talk about you behind your back.

No I go out to the atrium to call on my mobile - there is girl next to me in work who uses the phone - it doesn’t get annoying til she’s changing holiday plans with an airline or booking the cinema and has to repeat every single word over and over to the automated machine…does it cost that much to make a quick call on your own phone!

When I make private calls in the office I expect my co-workers to respect my privacy and go on coffee break or something. Nothing worse than an evesdropper.

I just close my office door and use my cell phone. I have more minutes than I ever use anyway.

What is wrong with the people here, you are losing your touch. i.e. regarding… please DON’T if you are in a cube/on a desk, it annoys the cr@p out of the rest of us to hear your personal calls … I work next to a woman who makes calls to her friends/insurance company/airlines/you name it all day long. And no, it does not help if it is in another language, it’s still annoying… go outside and call your friends from a cellphone if you are bored. Response: No one cares. I usually make calls to my friends, insurance company, airlines, etc. I do it all day long…but its cool since i do it in another language… Ok not as funny as the the whole CFA exam, washroom / lemon ice tea bit. I tried.

It depends on the call and what I’m going to be talking about

If I’m having a conversation about b@nging a sorostitute in the shower while my friends take pics I usually put it on speakerphone.

Because of this, she’s addicted to running those half marathons, and cried all day when she hurt her knee because she was afraid of getting fat. This was about the same time that I truly began to hate her. I would start making seemingly benign comments about her lunch choices to make her feel bad, saying something like “wow cheeseburger again huh?”

Just keep it short, no one cares. If you start yelling at your mom about how $hitty the casserole was last night or how she got the crease wrong in your pants, you deserve the stapler flying over the cube wall.

The girl who sits right next to me talks to her bf all day long. It’s f-in annoying. I hate her squeaky laugh too. Whenever I need to make personal calls, I do it outside as a considerate person should.

Our old receptionist used to b!tch out her 17-year-old daughter on a daily basis in the room across the hall from my office. Just one thing on a long list of tacky things she did on a daily basis. Just another reason that I’m glad I work with a bunch of middle-aged men: they don’t have annoying personal phone conversations.

the middle aged men (well age doesn’t matter since they are pretty much all annoying in their own ways) in my office also make really annoying personal conversations but I agree, at least they don’t have the squeaky, high-pitched voices. My mgr fights with his wife etc. and he is loud. at least he doesn’t use the speakerphone to listen to his voicemail like some others do, or whistle loudly and offkey, or scream at clients and so on. PS what the h3ll is an ONS, in my last job I worked on the desk and for some unknown reason, HR was also in the same row on the floor and drove me nuts with the loud personal calls…

ONS = one night stand
