Plans until test?

Whats everyone up to these days in terms of their plans for the next couple weeks?

I plan on doing test like conditions (3 hrs morning 3 hrs afternoon) for the next 3 saturdays using the 2011,12, and 13 tests. Outside of that, just trying to crush problems and looking through schweser notes on certain topics I dont feel comfortable on. Making some flash cards etc…just getting reps in.

Anything that you typically do leading up to the test that you feel really adds some value during this review phase?

I’m coasting a lot more at this stage than I did for L1/L2. Just plan on doing the same as you, just occupy the remainder of my time with practice exams and just hope to fill in the knowledge cracks with what learn from my mistakes.

The only thing I still feel uncomfortable with is my Ethics. I’m getting killed on this stuff and don’t know how to fix this.

Change your AF username to ethicalCFA and see if you can learn by osmosis.

I’m doing a full mock exam every Saturday from now till then, with past years AM sections throughout the week. The week before the test, I’m taking off work and will likely hit anything I’m still weak on and can actually improve.

I still have five old CFAI AM mocks at home, plus the Schweser Mock volumes, which I plan to do through weekends. In addition, I still have one week off from work, going to use for repetition, flash cards, etc. Weak topics should be improved with Schweser Q-Bank.

Let´s give full throttle now, in three weeks it´ll be over, hopefully!!

I’ll finish the three remaining Schweser tests I have over the next three Saturdays. In the last two weeks (including the last week off from work completely), I plan to go through every practice test I’ve done from start to finish - or as many as I can, prioritizing CFAI tests. As far as Ethics, I’ve been dedicating my lunches to this for the last two months, in addition to GIPS, and will continue to do so til exam day.

Agreed with you Clever, I am coasting a bit right now too. This week is the least ive studied in a month or two. Idk if its burn out or what. I feel that I know this content better and have done better on some practice exams than I ever did for L1/2 and those went ok so Im having a tough time focusing. Need something to wake me up and get back into it.

Studying just seems to have such small incremental gains right now. All the things I study I either seem to know, or is so detailed I dont think Ill remember it for the test anyways haha.

so damn right

Feel in EXACTLY the same shoes! But this feeling better/more confident than l1/l2 not necessaryly is a good thing.

Glad I’m not the only one. Certainly doing better on mocks, QBanks, EOCs, and general retention than I have at other levels. Put a lot more time as well (earlier time). However, struggling to find the motivation as well. This time last year for level 2 I spent every waking minute in the material. I’m even taking today off from studying so that my weekend time is more productive; this strategy wouldn’t even have been considered at Level I or II. However, the thought of being Band 10 still pushes me forward…

I am a retaker and have studied quite a lot for my second attempt.

I am certainly not over confident, but having worked hard I have eased off of the gas a touch ahead of that, feeling of fear that it will be 2 then 1 week away from the big day.

I think I need the fear to kick in to work, then hopefully peak on the day.

I actually wonder if it would make much difference if I took the test today, in a far less stressed frame of mind?

Perdition, how were u feeling at this time last time u took it? The same as now or different?

Ha-ha…

I thought the L3 material appeared easier than L2, so I was confident going into the exam, backed up by my scores in mock exams & past papers.

I finished the am section and breezed pm…overall I thought it went ok.

Results…I didn’t get an email with results from CFA until the next day, so I was literally going out of my mind…no joke!

Close to pass, but fail, so I lost the plot.

My scores were all over the place, I have a fixed income trading background. I did a question I might be familiar with first, to get confidence. Results time = <50% on that question.

This year once the paper was released I went over it, simple, no tricks, an easy question.

So I have worked hard and realise anything can happen in L3!

My concern for this year is that, the curriculum has been cut considerably from last year, in theory that makes it easier to study. I am aware the CFA do not give The Charter away easily!

Some disagree, but my theory on L3 is that everyone has worked hard to get to this point, the candidates and variance of results are tighter making the bands closer around the pass/fail mark.

Good luck to all!

ok this is my first attempt, and after reading this thread I am getting a bit worried lol. I started studying late compared to level 2, I have 3 weeks off from work now so lets see if my vacation days come to any use .

Plan is:

  • CFAI 2012 and 2013 AM tests

  • CFAI PM Mocks (the two i haven’t yet done)

  • Schweser LIVE mock next Saturday

  • I am off work for 2 weeks prior to the exam so will cover the material one final time

  • 1 or 2 Schweser practice tests from book 2 which i haven’t touched yet

It has been difficult juggling work/study/family for the last 5 months. I am looking forward to being off work so I can concentrate on studying.

A more interesting question is everyone’s plans AFTER the test.

I’m off to Italy for 10 days in mid June

did a few practice questions on schwesser for gips. they got all technical with before january 10 bull crap and I rolled my eyes and said. yep **** this section.

I was hoping to go on a big vacation for a couple of weeks, but I wasn’t able to make it happen. Flaky friends.
