podcasts

Show me some new material to take a look at. Here’s one I’d recommend for anyone who has a somewhat dark or sarcastic sense of humor, one of The Best Show’s best imo - the music scholar. Reminds me of some people I’ve come across.

Also, jocko willink - very cool guy, former seal commander. Very inspiring, he reads books about war and tells war stories. Very cool.

Citations Needed - leftist based take downs of the corporate media, think if Noam Chomsky was 30 years old, they have some really good topical episodes and they generally dunk on nominal liberals far more than conservatives

Chapo Trap House - yeah I don’t think anyone here would like this, the most recent episode they made fun of Jordan Peterson’s self-help book in a Kermit the frog voice, probably for Marxists only

Intercepted is solid, Russel Brand has a good podcast too called Under the Skin (anti-capitalism for sure, but other good stuff on spirituality, addiction, mediation, etc.)

I’ll dabble in Joe Rogan and Sam Harris to get outside the echo chamber. Sam usually has some really interesting guests on, even if he himself is a bit (a bit?) off his rocker with the unabashed anti-Islam garbage.

Off his rocker for anti Islam garbage? SJW detected!

Can we share screen captures? No way I can list the 50 podcasts I listen to. Most hours are probably spent on Tim Ferriss, ear hustle Sam Harris, Joe rogan, EconTalk , conversations with Tyler, Ezra Klein Show

shawty is the shiettttt

Last Podcast from the Left should be awesome but the hosts are terrible. They did three 60+ minute episodes on the Manson Family that could have been boiled down to 15 minutes of actual content. The rest is horrible dialogue between wannabe comedians.

Norm MacDonald was great but his is off the air since he picked up a tv deal.

Things You Should Know has some pretty interesting stuff.

StarTalk was really good before NDT got way to full of himself and one of my favorite tv scientists became a pompous ass.

Joe Rogan, WTF, Adam Carolla, and a few others are also on my list.

I listened to Last Podcast on the Left for the three part series they did on Norwegian Black Metal which was great.

This was a good episode this week. Talked about how majority of “foiled” ISIS based plots in the US were either manufactured or prodded along by the FBI and the media leaves out all that detail. Basically that ISIS is obviously an issue but the FBI and media blow it to 50x. I remember hearing about all these supposed Americans were leaving to join ISIS which apparently was really just a handful of people, not hundreds or thousands.

Have you seen the HBO and Netflix documentaries on this ? It’s crazy and actually there is a common guy between them. Here is one

No I haven’t but they definitely reference that story a few times in the show. I’ll check those out this weekend.

That’s really interesting sounding, I’ve heard of the incident rawrawr mentioned before and have been curious. I’ll check this out, thanks.

Lol… Everyone on the left is an imperialist, neoliberal corporate shill (Except Her). Everyone on the right is a supporter of the evil genocidal military industrial complex. Gotta love the variety of guests on Joe’s podcasts.

I will agree she hawt doe.

Did you guys listen to the sleep guy on Rogan? Everyone needs to listen to that if they’ve never studied sleep science

BTW I’ve been listening to STEM Talk for very detailed discussion on ketogenic and nutrition science and 538 for data grounded pundits

That’s not what she said. She said the actual left has no political power or representation in the mainstream media. For obvious reasons, hard to get behemoth media corporations to cover your pro-labor, anti-capitalist message. That being said, the neoliberals she’s referring to ARE the establishment democrats, who are laughably referred to as the left when they couldn’t be anything further. Dems couldn’t be happier to support America’s imperialist march across the globe or the unfettered greed that is the result of neoliberal policies the last four decades, including under the Clinton and Obama presidencies.

So there are plenty of people on the left similar to her, but they’re certainly not the ones Trump or the MSM refer to leftists. This is why Trump’s war against the “liberal media” is one of the most misguided, laughable feuds I’ve ever seen. He only dislikes them because they hurt his delicate feelings. Other than that, your WaPo’s, NYTs, CNNs, MSNBCs of the world are in lockstep with the pro-war, pro-capitalistic message of your current day GOP playbook. They’re best friends and have been for a long time.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama dems are a center-right party. That’s all she’s saying. As far as her characterization of the far right… dude they literally think a 4chan poster named Q and Donald Trump are going to save the world from pedophiles.

Some day.

It’s probably best the left she described has no representation. I’ll have to listen

Joey Rogan, killing it with the guests lately. <3 Taibbi.

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB9JHwzzyX4]

That’s not really accurate.

You barely have to turn on any talks show, awards ceremony or social media to see media personalities backing the dems. Lets also not forget that the entire media labor force is unionized pro-labor, anti-capitalist (SAG?). Studio ownership may be positioned differently but nobody thinks any of that stuff will get passed so they’re happy to cater to their audience and fervor driven ratings. There’s definitely an undeniable slant. As I pointed out the other day, Rosie made a Trump supporting character and it was national news for like a week, we still haven’t stopped hearing about Kanye’s Trump support.

Although I think you may be saying current Dem heads (Hillary and co) are not dem’s but center right and thus THEY do have more control in that area vs whoever you’re saying Dem’s really are. In that case maybe, might have got lost following along.

Touched that up a bit and yes that’s what I’m saying. You seem to be conflating democrat with left. There’s certainly a progressive wing of the democratic party (Sanders) but they’ve been blackballed by the MSM and the establishment wing for years (see: WaPo’s treatment of Sanders during the primary). Not to mention these people really only attach themselves to the party because they have no other choice in the current system if they want to be competitive.

Look at the editorial pages of nominally liberal NYT, WaPo, The Atlantic. They tell us they try to hire viewpoints from “all sides” in an effort to open public discourse but you really only see two types of people: #Resistance/#I’mWithHer liberals and #NeverTrump republicans. The latter accounts for what, like 5% of the GOP at this point? With the former leaving out an entire group of people to the left that reject everything about establishment Dems. Do you ever see open socialists getting op-eds in the NYT? Barely. But we’ll get 5,000 variations about the “war” silencing the right as Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro make their daily appearances on Fox News.

https://fair.org/home/why-are-progressives-cheering-cable-news-parade-of-hawks-and-liars/

There is nothing leftist about Robert Mueller and James Comey and yet they are rock stars of the #Resistance now. The labor movement going on in red states is arguably the most important thing happening right now for the working class and MSNBC and CNN run 99% Russia pieces nightly. Although one can rightly assume the last thing a company who made a billion dollars last year wants to do is give screen time to non-violent civil disobedience.

This is the one thing I always agreed with Purealpha on. There is one corporate party running politics and media. The differences at the top, where it matters, are basically negligible. Everyone goes nuts about the handwringing over gun control and safe spaces and Stormy Daniels, but at the end of the day Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were neoliberal shills that ruined the lives of a lot of people and nobody wants to admit that.

Lol, that Abby lady became a bumbling idiot any time Joe pressed her on any information deeper than her sound bite headlines. Seek to 30:40 on that Youtube video as an example.
