I know we all talked a lot already about the exam but i need ur views to give them a complete feedback here are the Q I’d to have ur views 2. What specific areas of the topics you rated ‘very challenging’ did you find particularly challenging? Ethical and Professional Standards Financial Statement Analysis Equity Investments Fixed Income 4. In the context of the exam you took, did you find the exam questions to be more difficult, as difficult, or less difficult than you expected them to be? More difficult than expected As difficult as expected Less difficult than expected 5. In general, how clearly written did you find the exam questions? Very clearly written Clearly written Often not clearly written Very often not clearly written [I wish I could tell them how much I loved their ethics questions…] 9. How well do you think the following prepared you for the CFA exam? ( got to rank using this interval scale: Very well / Well / Not very well / Not well at all / I am not using ) CFA Program assigned curriculum CFA Institute 2 hour timed online sample examinations CFA Institute 3 hour timed online mock exam CFA Institute free sample questions Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) practice exams Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) study notes Preparatory/review course Other Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) study materials (e.g., books, audio tapes, videos, etc.) Local study group Other 12. What could CFA Institute have done to help you better prepare for the exam? 16. If you have any additional comments about the CFA Program or the exam you took, please enter them in the box below.
- I thought derivatives was challenging. FSA (SS9) took some time, but it all made sense. 4. Less difficult in the morning. As difficult in the afternoon. I don’t mean that I thought it was easy. I just went into the exam expecting to be tricked on every question. 5. Clearly written. There were a handful of questions that were worded very oddly, but if you read each question twice, you can figure out what they’re asking most of the time. 9. CFA Program assigned curriculum - Not very well (too hard to read for what it’s worth) CFA Institute 2 hour timed online sample examinations - Very well (except for the site not working for 2 days before the test and not being able to review afterwards) CFA Institute 3 hour timed online mock exam- Very well (except for the site not working for 2 days before the test and not being able to review afterwards) CFA Institute free sample questions - Well (I didn’t do a lot of them since they took too long, but I did all the previous exam qs (Schweser 7)) Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) practice exams - Very Well (Schweser exams and old practice exams on SMEKA’s (sp?) site) Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) study notes - Very Well (~95% of qbank) Preparatory/review course - Didn’t use Other Non-CFA Institute (3rd party) study materials (e.g., books, audio tapes, videos, etc.) - Didn’t use Local study group - Didn’t use Other - Not well at all (I tried to have my gf quiz me a couple times, and it was aweful) 12. They should work on making the curriculum more readable. I would be willing to read the CFAI cover to cover if it were presented better. After reading the material, I feel like I need to immediately reread it because nothing stuck. 16. I walked out feeling like they didn’t test enough material. With only 240 questions, they really shouldn’t have multiple questions on the same topics.
If you took the mock exams, you know how much the exam feedback pdf sucked. Make sure you mention that in the survey.
what’s SMEKA?

Here’s what I wrote on the last question: ------------------------------------------------------------ I think the bathroom situation (or rather lack thereof) was a VERY big issue (I took mine in Boston) especially since the time pressure is so immense and an unlucky individual can spend a long time waiting in line if they need to use the restrooms right before or during the test. As an illustrative example, in the testing place I was in, there were 2,700 people with probably 90% males. For these ~2200 males, there were only two bathrooms in the main study hall with a combined total of 6 stalls and 6 urinals. People have sacrificed so much for so long, and it is disappointing that they have to face such distracting and problems not related to the CFA material. For the next level, I will dehydrate myself in order to ensure I don’t have to deal with any restroom issues during or right before both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Come on…after going through 100+ questions, we faced a simple CAPM calculation where they gave us the risk-free rate, beta, and the market premium!!! Ridiculous.
survey is survey, I don’t think CFA institute will make any improvement. As long as no one can discipline them, as long as they can do whatever they would like to do in a black box, you won’t see any improvement.

Ridiculous. prob they do’nt want to scare the candidates with questions on capital lease and OL. But they have to do something about the feedback that is given after the exam … it really sucks bigtime !!!
