Biased sample. People who pass report their results. When you fail, you’re more inclined to just close everything and mourn. I know that because that’s what I did last year.
Passed. Primarily rely on MM videos and CFAI books. Went through all CFAI questions (both books and online including mocks). Didn’t do any third party mocks.
I also blew up Ethics. Went to 10th percentile all the way down. Luckily I wasn’t penalized for the poor performance on this section.
I spent a decent amount of time on Ethics including multiple runs on all CFAI questions… I was shocked to be honest.
PASSED!!! Went from band 3 last year to pass!!! completely BOMBED ethics and FI also apparently, yikes. Got 100 percent on PM like I thought, Did exceptionally in Econ, top 10 percent, Equity also. Rest look like the ol’ 4/6, 67 percent. Scary that the bottom of my blue box confidence interval appears to just go under the MPS. Oh well, none of that matters now!!! Congrats to everyone that passed and keep fighting to those who did not.
If you have time to do it again, and you really want to complete the program then don’t quit. You are close. Of course, if you don’t want this bad enough then just take some time to reflect on it and figure out how important it is for you. Only you can answer whether it’s worth continuing. Good luck with your decision.
Dude you obviously can pass this thing. Band 10 means you were 1-2 questions away. If you really want to work in the industry you can’t let 2 fails kill your spirit.
I failed Level II once, Band 6. I took a couple days to re-calibrate. I was depressed for a bit. 2 weeks later I was driving home from work more determined than ever. Rocked it the next year.
However, I said if I failed 3 times I would quit. Prob not the best advice but that was just me.
I don’t think you should quit. It burns now like hell right now but in a few days the worst is over. Also, if you quit now, every time for the rest of your life you’ll feel a sting when you hear or see “CFA” and it will remind you of something that you started but couldn’t finish. You still have 30-40 years of worklife in front you. This road bump will make you chuckle when you’re 50 and have earned your charter.
2018… Passed!!! Guys, never give up no matter the number of attempts. Remember that you might not be happy with yourself in the nearest future when you see the “CFA” designation attached to some colleagues’ name. So, keep attempting till you cross the hurdle. Best wishes to us all.
