I’m trying to ascertain, for once and for all, if this whole “Retabulation” for a $100 is a scam or not (you may be able to hear the cavalry and the trumpets in the background!?!) I have heard the whole “Don’t waste your money. Only a couple of people have ever had their original mark changed” etc. But if that is the case, why does CFAI offer this facility for an extra $100!?! Please post your own Retab result here (any Level exam) or a result of a close friend or colleague (no camp fire stories please!!) So, i will start the list: I got myself an L2 Band 10 fail this June, and just received my Retab result… No luck! 1 retab => No change to result => 0/1 => 0% Change rate Surely if, after a decent number of candidates post their results, the net % of “Changed Results” is less than (eg.) 5%… i would have to ask a few questions. Anyway, looks like i will just have to up my game next year!
Someone posted that CFAI said the last time they changed a result was years ago.
Buzz, I thought the retab results are released 30 to 60 days after request per the info on CFA website. How were your subscores/grids?
Level II: Fail Item Set Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 18 * - - - Corporate Finance 36 - - * - Derivatives 36 - - * - Economics 18 - * - - Equity Investments 72 - - * - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 36 - * - - Portfolio Management 18 - * - - Quantitative Methods 18 - * - Your score band: 10 FRA was probably the difference for me. My Retab took about 10 day!!

It looks 51-70 for ethic, and all topics below it were fatal injuries. Ethics may be hard to get 70+, but those FRA, FI, PM, and QM need to be 70+ to pass.
I just got my retabulation result. Failed band 9. No change. As requested, your June 2010 CFA® examination was manually retabulated to ensure that no errors were made in the scoring of your examination. Your answer sheets were verified by candidate number and name. Your marked answers were compared to the answer key and your score was compared to your score in the CFA Institute computer database. No errors were found and your original score remains unchanged.
In a way - scores remaining unchanged - its a good thing. It tells me that CFA Inst. is doing good job. I know you guys would have hoped to see your results change. I would have done and hoped for the same if I was B9 or B10. Best of luck for the next time.

I would have taken your $100 to tell you that you failed. It is the same thing! Maybe I should offer that next year.
Yip. That is my suspicion/point too. So, if the CFAI Marking-Machine is doing such a good job (ie. near-as-damn-it-100% accuracy), why would CFAI offer the re-mark facility at all…and, moreover, FOR AN EXTRA SUM!! The proposed logic doesn’t really make sense. Sounds very much like a money spinner, to me…
They gotta charge something that hurts a bit so everyone who fails doesn’t request a re-tab.
