Does anyone have recommendations for practice tests outside of Schweser and the CFA mocks? I’m saving the CFA mocks until closer to the exam date, and I feel like the Schweser mocks aren’t adding a lot of value at this point.
I used Elan mocks for level 1and they were great, but level 2 mocks won’t be out until May 21st (allegedly), and who knows how good their first shot at level 2 test will be.
… Any thoughts?
what do you mean: schweser mocks aren’t adding value? are you acing them, failing them? do you think they don’t reflect the curriculum?
i would also like to hear (maybe from retakers) if schweser mocks are good proxy for the real exam. anyone?
Hey it was even there first shot on L1 mocks when i sat for L1 and they did a great job, so i’m not that concerned about quality this time. I just really hope they release L2 mocks on time or maybe earlier !!!

Schweser is garbage.

Explain? Too hard too easy? Not testing the curriculum? What’s the alternative?
Their wording, writing style and how they ask questions is not consistent with that of the cfai.
If u do just schweser questions, it’ll take a while to get used to the cfai wording.
Elan guides was the best for L1 but there is no Elan for L2 yet.
I need practice tests but not schweser.

to those saying schweser mocks are garbage: what is your basis for this opinion? level 1 exam? or are you retakers of level 2 and can confirm that schweser mocks do not prepare you for the real thing?
personally, at level 1, i found schweser mocks very adequate. i was scoring in the low 80s on the mocks and found the real thing a little easier… sure the “wording was a little different”, but at least i knew and understood most concepts, and that was thanks in large part to schweser mocks.
my question: will things be much different at level 2? (btw, i will be doing cfa mock 2012 and 2011 as well)
Level 1 did not have case studies.
I did the cfai sample tests and mock earlier this week. I just got the schweser volume 1 yesterday and looked through it - garbage.

Capt Save a ho, if you are saying the schweser mocks are “recycle bin” based on comparing to cfa mock, i don’t find your statement very credible. i’ve done both (cfa mock 2012 and schweser vol.1, exam 1) and they are comparable. i suggest you “look through it”, again! can’t speak to sample tests, though.
i dont care what u think or what u find to be credible. im entitled to my own opinion and im not trying to convince u of anything. im just wondering if theres other mocks out there.
retaker. Schweser are a good barometer. the questions may be worded a bit different but concepts, formulas are the same. at this pt most people have gone thru the reading, taken lots of notes, flash cards, etc. now it’s all about repetition and cementing a few formulas, concepts in your brain. with three weeks left i’m planning to take at least three more Schweser tests as well CFA mocks and redo EOC questions.
I think they do add plenty of value, just to get you in line with the format of the exam and the concepts.
Granted, the wording and some of the focus areas are not tested as they ought to, but at this stage, any practice is good practice!
This is a worthless discussion. If you don’t think schsewer is worthful then don’t do it. I am completely relying on it this time though in level 1 i have not even touched it. I find them good this time as they really help you solidifying the core concepts. The wording logic is very weak… If your concepts are clear then in whateverway questions are worded you will solve them. Anyway hardly anybody will ignore solving cfai curriculum problem.
