Pretentious to have CFA letters after name in email?

What do you think? Is it pretentious to put the CFA designation after your name in an email to someone outside the firm? inside the firm but who doesn’t know you? inside the firm to someone who knows you? Personally, I think it is fine to put the designation after the name in all situations in which you write your full name (thus not ok for short intra office emails that are not formal…but ok for formal intra office emails).

if it’s in your outlook signature no one will think it’s pretentious. I have a small sig, and I use it for both external and internal e-mails

I have it my sig line. If anything I’ve received more questions and comments (all favorable) with it in the sig line.

Almost everyone at our place has it in our signatures. Why not? Good for clients to see and good for your colleagues to see. Create a template with your company name and just have it as standard for all emails.

Not at all if you have it in your signature.

Pretentious only if you have it on your license plate.

What if my license plate says “10XEBITDA”

^ You might be overvalued.

my firm doesn’t allow any certification after your name on business cards or email sigs.
