Private Equity firms' market cap

Can you tell me the best way to get market cap of private equity firms that are not public? Thanks very much!

Market cap is for public companies only, because they are traded in the public “market”. You can probably get a valuation of a private equity firm, but that’s quite a guess as a lot of the valuation information is not publicly available for those PE firms.

Look at the P/AUM of publicly traded firms. Compare to AUM of private firms.

PE shops are hard to value to begin with. post above is right: you’ll have to benchmark your PE vs a traded comp.
