Figured i’d start this for the L1 June peeps. I started late November and started from Quant. I’m halfway through Equity. I forgot all of Quant and Econ already, parts of FSA, CF, PM still lingering but don’t want to stress out remembering the intricacies of FSA and parts of PM that i forgot. I should be done with Equity by third week of February. FI/AI/Ethics should take me into mid/late March. Then i’m going to read the wholeeee thing over again =(
i’m just finishing up emerging markets (reading 40?) so a little over halfway through. i doubt i’m going to have the time to read the entire curriculum a 2nd time so i’m probably going to use schweser for my 2nd pass. ideally i’d like to have at least a month and a half left for straight up problem solving. i’m also like 20 readings behind on my cfai end-of-chapter problem solving ahhhhhhh…
yea i meant schweser also. no way i’m reading CFAI like that. CFAI end of reading problems = painful!
i read through all of schweser, but didn’t do any practice problems along the way since i figure i’ll retain a decent amount of it - not nearly enough to pass, but a solid foundation. from here til june, it’s all practice problems and reviewing for me.
You didnt even do the concept checkers in Schweser?Or you didnt do the self tests?
i’m doing my Round 1 - done with EQ (except relative val), quant, FSA, PM (except I-CAPM and Tax/wealth mgt stuff), CF, and AI. Now doing FI Pending: Econ, ethics, derivatives I’ll be starting ethics only towards the end…coz in L1 i had zero retention of the stuff i read early on… I’m particularly worried abt forex in econ, heard its tough
Starting today! Hope the fiance enjoys tomorrow as I am falling off the map afterwards. See you all in June! I need pressure to study otherwise my brain starts to wander a little too much if I start too early. 112 days to the exam=enough pressure. I did one lecture two weeks ago on FSA and think I am going to start there. I am using Stalla CDs. Goal is to get through the lectures and read/take notes on Stalla review guides by April 15. This will leave me with over 6 weeks to hammer out questions…
will start FSA tomorrow started in last week of Jan cleared in june
1st read done quant, econ, FSA, corp fi, equity, alts, doing PM this weekend. just had a little laugh to myself as i breezed by the 2 paragraphs dedicated to the instability of the minimum variance frontier. somehow this little LOS was the whole PM item set last year. PM is funny like that. have FI and derivs left after PM, should finish my 1st read through by mid-march, then i become a q-bank jedi for a solid month plus, might watch some of the videos to refresh, etc. need to pick up my pace during the week (from nothing to something), but overall feel pretty on pace for a pass come june.
i’m feeling like this exam is going to fuck me hard
just let it @#$%& the guy sitting next to you harder. pass rate is almost a 50/50 shot. just pick out the guy you’re going to beat and super sharp shoot him down, you’ll be fine!
I have read through and taken copious notes on quant - derivatives and I am currently on international asset pricing in portfolio management. I am hoping to finish up my first run through by the end of this week. THis weekend through June will be dedicated to reviewing my notes, re-learning ethics, doing practice questions and taking the schweser and CFAI practice tests. I think I am on pretty good pace, but any reviewing I have done so far has not stuck as much as I would have liked…I can’t believe I am getting nervous already. Best, TheChad
starterd in November , but still in SS8 am I late ?!!!
I think we’ll be fine. I’m on a plan to finish reading the material, lectures and all the passmaster questions by may 6th and I’m already a week or 2 ahead of pass. That leaves over a month to take practice problems and review all the material I had trouble with. Should be enough. I just think it’s important to def make sure u do all the practice questions as your going thru and take simulated tests after u finish each book to review the material u already read, I think that will be the difference in ensuring u retain the info on first pass.
bannisja, Are u focusing on CFAI or schweser. Im sticking to CFAI after a disaster last yr where I relied solely on schweser (except ethics) But I realize its taking ages to get through the material…
I am done with Econ and Corp Finance. Have a long long way to go.
I’ve been exclusively studying Schweser and will complete my 1st pass in 7-10 days My targets going forward: March 1st - April 15th 2nd pass through material, supplementing review with Q-Bank & CFAI Qs. Browse curriculum for areas covered weakly in Schweser. April 15th - 30th Finish 2-3 Schweser exams and review as necessary. May 1st - D-Day CFAI Mocks + Schweser Exams & final review Whew! Its going to be a long road ahead!
Finished: Quant, Econ, FSA, CF, PM Current: Equity (2/3 finished), Ethics (mostly done) Pending: FI, Alt, Deriv I plan on finishing up all readings (w/concept checkers & CFAI problems) by early April. Then it’s review and practice.
i have a similar review schedule. i like going through broad strokes first time, get detailed second time, then practice questions afterwards.
Last year I studied from Schweser, I read through everything and did all their questions n exams. To top that off, I even did the CFAI mock exams. I still didn’t make it… but I was close. This year I’m using Stalla and taking their live classes… and I can really tell a difference between Stalla and Schweser… They give you all these little tips n stuff that I never even knew about last year. Plus Schweser focuses too much on the little things and you miss the bigger picture. Im feeling confident but you never know. So far all Ive done Ethics, Quant, Eco and am now on FSAI. Im doing a ton of questions and starting to remember formula’s already. I remember I messed up a couple of formula’s last time. Need to get those down solid. I see some other people from last year on here too… how’s it going guys! We’re gonna make it this time!!!
