Qbank - Can it be Faulty???

One faulty approach to using Qbank is to use Test Management and leave the “Limit Pool Question” setting in Advanced/Intermediate/Basic. Qbank is highly weighted in Basic questions. For instance, at level 1 Study Session 15 there are 284 questions available, Schweser doesn’t tell you how many questions out of those 284 questions are Advanced/Intermediate/Basic. Here is the breakdown…there are 216 Basic Questions (76%), 48 Intermediate Questions (17%), 20 Advanced Questions (7%). So, I believe if you’re setting any exams in Qbank per Test Management and leave the default setting at Advanced/Intermediate/Basic you are NOT going to effectively prepare yourself for the exam(potentially overweighted in basic questions), especially if you do not go through all 4000 plus questions. I believe there are solutions to this problem with some creative thinking. That’s why I started this thread. If you creatively customize this application I believe its a great tool. From a customization standpoint I believe it blows away Stalla’s Passmaster. I’ve used both. Warren

if you search around, this has already been discussed. i don’t think it is ‘faulty’ per se. but more common sense.

according to stalla, the 40-50-10 (basic-intermediate-advanced) rule applies in the actual exam

mriz21, Thanks for your input, the 40-50-10 validates my assessment of the default setting on Qbank (Test Management). I have taken the Level one exam, the acutal exam feels more like 25/30-50/60-25/10. Some of the schweser practice exams especially Vol 2 feel more like 10-30-60. Warren

I believe it is faulty? Why? Because such a setting can be easily overlooked. If Schweser would not check those three settings it would make the candidate think up front how should I arrange the settings according to my current skill level. I believe it would be a more effective approach. The whole CFA approach is incremental. Warren

small suggestion - can you stop inundating other forums with your questions on your statistically validating the QBank - stick to your level - and post and answer questions there on, please.

I have to agree with cpk123, I’m afraid. Why don’t you try to take it up directly with Schweser and not through these boards, if you have a point they would want to know. As for ‘faulty’ my first thought was that this thread discussed erroneous questions. Such errors exist, so it’s good to download the program patches they launch every now and then (it’s an option you run from inside the software). The patch will download corrections to questions and, if there is any, corrections to the software itself.
