Question about textbooks

Hi Guys,

I have browsed through a few pages of posts but couldn’t find the answer to this question. So if this one has been posted previously, please accept my apology.

I am going to take FRM Part II in May next year. Can someone tell me if I can use this year’s books during my preparation?

Thanks,

No one is putting a gun to your head but you are taking a risk by using old material. If you’re going to put so many hours of sacrifice, do it right.

@former trader

we were able to use old material to pass cfa exams so was wondering if we could do the same to frm.

“We”. Are you part of a crew?

MagicTier, using old material is a terrible idea. I remember seeing somewhere that FRM material turnover is on the order of 30-40% per year. This means that material that is a year old is already potentially half out of date.

The CFA has a more stable body of knowledge, with curriculum turnover on the order of 5-10%, if that. Thus, the consequences for using outdated CFA material are much less than those of using outdated FRM material.

^ There you go. Study material is not an area to be cheap in.
