Question about the actual exam

Can anyone who has taken L1 comment on whether the actual test is divided into modules like the practice test? Do they really bunch together econ, quant, etc.? Or is the test simply 240 questions randomly given? Thanks.

yes it is grouped by sections…

Is Asset valuation bunched together as well? Do you have equity, FI, etc questions mixed together?

Asset valuation is bunched together, however the questions within the sections do not randomly shift all over the place. So they go as Equity, Securities Markets, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Alt Investments And Portfolio management 6 questions usually build up the end section. Ethics Quant Econ FSA + Corp Fin Equity, Securities Markets, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Alt Investments Portfolio Management

thanks

thanks cpk, that was useful.

Are we allowed to bring 2 calculators to the exam so that we can use the other one just in case the battery runs out or something? Also are we allowed to bring in a normal scientific calculator like the casio fx 991 MS just as an additional back up?

Check out the exam regulations on the CFA website… it details everything you need to know for exam day… show some initiative. Also, rules can change from year to year. There are other rules you need to adhere to, so definitely read that webpage. FYI… Last year, you were allowed to bring a spare calculator, but only the standard HP calc or Texas Instrument calc that is approved by CFAI. You can also bring a screwdriver and spare battery to allow u to change the existing battery, but I dont recommend wasting time doing that. raghuram_86 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are we allowed to bring 2 calculators to the exam > so that we can use the other one just in case the > battery runs out or something?
