Ha, this was the second comment I saw and I started laughing: 106 of 109 people found the following review helpful: almost perfect, October 26, 2006 By a curious reader - See all my reviews Such a terrific reference work! But with so many terrific random digits, it’s a shame they didn’t sort them, to make it easier to find the one you’re looking for.
Wow, $81.00. Used ones start at $72.00. Before computer-generated random numbers were widely available, books like these were used by statisticians to select random sample from lists and other statistical purposes like the monte carlo methods used in the Manhattan Project. I’d heard about these books, but never seen one; it’s kinda interesting to see that they’re still being published. Did anyone look at the sample chapter.
you think that one’s expensive, check this one out… http://www.amazon.com/Margin-Safety-Risk-Averse-Strategies-Thoughtful/dp/0887305105/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1235818948&sr=8-1
Thank you Rand, indeed! “I took a class in statistics in college. I used this book to help me select random phone numbers for a poll I was conducting for my class project. (The most popular household cleanser in the greater Siouxland area is Bon Ami, by the way.) One of those phone calls was answered by the woman who is now my wife. We’ve been happily married for ten years! Thank you, RAND.”
