Does the sales/trading desk hire from back office? Anyone know? I know some firms do and some dont.

I would say that leap from DS to S/T is waaaaay more likely than a leap from a place like action direct to S/T. But only because at DS you have the opportunity to “showcase” your deal closing skill set, which is key. Action Direct is all disgruntled children who couldn’t pass their CFA exams and felt the need to secure roles giving them the title of 'trader". Willy
