How many of you think it’s neccessary to read through the material more than once? I planned to take my time through the material, do a lot of questions along the way, and go back through the material in certain places that I needed to refresh. Although I am sure it helps to some degree, it just does not seem like one would get the most value for their time if they sped through the material two or three times. Wouldn’t frequent reviews using QBank be a better use of one’s time?
I am on SS # 9 and to this point I have read through the study sessions once then I do a ton of Qbank at the end and that really drills the lessons in…even if I dont understand through the first reading after a few practice problems everything sinks in…then after a few sessions ill do a test over a few sessions for review

Reading through the entire curriculum twice would be overkill to the nth degree in my opinion. It would take an enormous amount of time. It’s all going to depend on the candidates background and their ability to absorb the material and understand it. Here’s what I suggest: Read Schweser/CFAI Books 1x Do end of LOS questions Complete the entire Qbank Do 4 or 5 mocks Do that and you’ll pass. If you don’t understand a certain topic then I would certainly read it 2x or 3x, whatever it takes, but not the entire curriculum.
I read through the entire curriculum 4-5 times. Each time I did it with less detail, and focused more on the issues that needed more work. Going over the curriculum multiple times is necessary, unless your memory is like a steel trap.
I think its impossible for anyone to remember the whole curriculum anyways, so reading to memorize the whole thing is pointless. I failed in band 10 last time (I read the curriculum twice), and found once I got to the end I had forgotten key points from the beginning. My only saving grace was that for the last two weeks before the exam I was doing questions. I think I did about 1000. IMO The curriculum is incredibly boring, so reading takes more time than it is worth. I think one thorough read, with frequent reviews with the QBANK, coupled with mock exams (in an exam setting, to prepare your mind for a 6hr exam is the best use of ones time). Hopefully using that technique I will pass, this time.
I would onlly re read if I got the end of chapter questions mostly incorrect of if I didn’t understand an answer. Other than that, I don’t think it’s necessary, unless of course you have tons of time. I would rather do Qbank. BUT, I know someone who passed this June, he read the whole curriculum once and then re read anything that he didn’t quite graps again, which was most of FSA and I think he said derivatives is another hard session. And then did most of the Qbank and was getting above 80% on the Schweser practice questions.
