Recent Alleged Frauds

What a people’s thoughts on some of the alleged frauds that have been uncovered , such as Madoff, Stanford etc and it’s potential long-term impact on demand for CFA Charter holders? Someone at work (another CFA candidate) suggested it may see an even bigger increase in demand as employers try to up their reputations. I’m not so sure it will have a big impact…any thoughts?

People that do this will do it regardless of whether they are a CFA or not. You think the Code of Ethics is going to stop these people.

+1 i don’t think designations change perceptions at the institutional level. a CFA might evoke confidence to a retail investor / mom & pop, but institutional clients are another story altogether. so i guess the end answer to your question is that it depends on the shop you work for.
