Replacing batteries

Has anyone tried to change the battery on their BA II Plus? Let me tell you my friend this turned out to be quite a difficult exercise. Change your battery before the exam, it will be way to time consuming and stressful during the exam.

I am taking 2 calculators. Both calculators are just 3-4 month old. Don’t want to take chance w/ changing battery now or during the exam.

Agree. Do this NOW. on both calculators. thanks for the heads up.

I picked up a second HP-12C from eBay for this very reason. I plan to replace the batteries in BOTH before the exam as who wants to spend exam time changing batteries. I’ve owned my original 12C for 18 years and only needed to change the battery once in that time (before I took the CIMA), but better to be safe than sorry. The 12c I got from eBay was made in China. My original was made in Singapore. If you shake the one made in Singapore, it is completely silent. If you shake the one made in China, you can hear the keys rattle.

mines from Malaysia haha, somewhere in the middle. the CE|C & 0 keys are jamming a little and when i press the buttons they don’t register sometimes. people will tell me to shut up in this exam, i’ll be banging the keys so hard

Forgot to mention to remember to set the P/Y back to 1 after changing you battery. I stared at my calculator for quite a while cause I just could not figure out why my time value calculation would not work out.

Good reminder everyone, I am going to pick up some batteries this weekend. Where did everyone get theirs?

I found replacement batteries at Office Depot. I’d imagine any Office Supply store would carry them.

wow Jaffels - thank you. another reason to do this NOW. there’s a thread here about test center horror stories from LY exams…I’ll surface it again

I just changed the battery in my TI BAII Plus. I know it reset everything, does anyone know if that will cause any problems. From what I can tell it seems fine. Thanks
