Representing passing lvl 1 on resume help please!

Hey guys, I know lvl 1 doesn’t mean much but I’m going to be a fresh grad soon. Can anyone share parts of their resume that they have which refer to passing this? When i say this i mean what are some nice ways of representing this in ‘qualifications’ or ‘skills’ and in a cover letter?

have you successfully registered for L2? if so, write L2 candidate

inb4 write CFA Level 1 I just put the generic “Passed the level 1 exam in the CFA program, planning on taking level 2 in June '12.” Not sure how many other ways you can write it really.

srry guys, I don’t mean for education and referring to it specifically. I mean for ways to sell your self through the resume. so far ive come up with “• Highly knowledgeable in topics including corporate finance, economics, and financial instruments including mutual funds, fixed income, and equity investments” under ‘summary’

I personally wouldn’t think anyone can be deemed highly knowledgeable in any of those areas with a L1 pass alone. Remember the benchmark is against other working professionals and not against other students once you graduated. But do make sure you mention the Level 1 pass because it is definitely value adding. Good luck!

“2012 Level II Candidate in the CFA Program” is the right way to do it once you register for level II

successfully completed CFA Level I

just pull the example they use right from the CFAI level I ethics books, that way you know its correct

Passed CFA Level I Exam (>70% in all sections)

Mr. World Wide?

“I been had passed CFA level 1, Swag”

mr_moose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > “I been had passed CFA level 1, Swag” I would either put that or do what I did. In the education section I wrote: CFA Institute Registered Level II CFA Candidate Since you’re young as well I think putting it under education is a good idea because that’s a lot of what people have to go on at this point. Some people suggest writing it under a small heading in your COMPUTER SKILLS: xxxxxxxxxx COMMUNITY SERVICE: xxxxxxxx ACCREDITATION: Passed Level 1 CFA INTERESTS: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx But I thought it might get over looked too easily. Please share how you decided to put it. I’m sure many others are curious.

Once you register for Level 2, put it as “CFA Level II Candidate”. Anyone who sees it otherwise is going to think you are a tool, since you didn’t understand the million repetitions of CFA Institute telling you exactly how to represent yourself.

So here is a question for you. I have always listed CFA level X candidate. I am now a level III candidate however I am tempted to put “passed CFA level II exam June 2011” because I took the past 18 monts off (I have an 18 month old baby and knew I couldn’t do work, baby, and level II at the same time) I want to show potential employers that I was involved in the industry during my time off. I am worried if I simply put Level III candidate that they will not realize that I was doing level II during my time off. What would you do?

“Level 3 Candidate June 2012; Passed CFA Level 2 while simultaneously giving birth to and raising offspring with genetic predisposition to superior modeling, forecasting and statement analysis.”
